Who you are
- ACCA qualified
- Top 10 Accountancy Firm experience preferred
- Be a competent and experienced user of Xero accounting software
- Strong experience with FP&A
- Strong experience of financial reporting, accounting principles (UK GAAP/IFRS) and tax compliance
- Strong knowledge of cash flow, budgeting, forecasting and modelling
- Ability to review commercial contracts
- Comfortable working with senior leadership and external Accountants
- Have experience using Google Sheets, Excel and have generally strong IT skills
- Maintain strong team working and interpersonal skills, with the ability to be flexible and adaptable within the environment of a small and changing team
- Be a methodical process-driven person, with passion for accuracy and excellence
- Be a proactive, self-motivated individual capable of working on their own initiative in a constantly changing and pressurised environment and fast-developing company
- Start up/Scale up experience strongly preferred
- Have worked alone or within a very small team, able to be autonomous and hit the ground running
- Able to identify improvement opportunities, suggest improvements and action change
- Strong attention to detail
What the job involves
- Papercup is revolutionising the world of media through state-of-the-art AI dubbing technology, making videos universally accessible regardless of language
- As we expand our horizons, we are in search of an experienced and autonomous hands-on Finance Manager to join on a 12 month FTC with the potential to go perm
- Ensuring compliance with required accounting practices
- Financial planning, analysis and reporting for the company
- Preparation of monthly and annual financial documents
- Improving and refining financial operations of a fast-growing organisation
- Producing month end, accounts reconciliations, expenses and accruals and management accounts
- Working with the Sales team on reporting and forecasting
- Creating, maintaining and administering company budgets
- Financial administration of the company
- Payroll, pension and employees travel & expense reimbursement
- Conduct reconciliation of the company's bank accounts and credit card activities
- Preparing purchase orders in accordance with requests for materials
- Perform all activities related to the accounts payable function: including reviewing, coding, and administering payments
- Preparing payments file each week for supplier goods and services
- Preparing Quarterly VAT returns (Xero)

Dubbing is a lucrative market - film dubbing services alone could generate $3.6 billion annually by 2027 - but it’s also a laborious and costly process. This is the problem where Papercup is trying to create a step-change with its AI dubbing software, and it has a chance to take this market by storm.
The promise of AI in this domain, specifically natural language processing, is that it speeds up the task by creating human-sounding dubs across multiple languages. Papercup is already being employed by media giants Sky News, Discovery, and Business Insider, and was used to translate 30 seasons of Bob Ross’ iconic show, “The Joy of Painting” as well as Jamie Oliver's YouTube cooking channel.
The company has raised significant funding from the likes of Sky, most of which is being put toward research around expressive AI-generated voices and expanding its support for foreign languages. Papercup currently has a translator network across three continents but expects to increase this over the next year through partnerships with Bloomberg and other high profile clients.
