Role
Who you are
- 10+ years in FP&A, corporate finance, or a related field with a strong progression of responsibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics; Master’s degree or certification preferred
- Experience in high-velocity public or VC/PE-backed companies; M&A or financing experience is a plus
- Mastery of Excel/Google Sheets and PowerPoint/Slides; experience with databases, ERP systems, and Adaptive is beneficial
- Skilled presenter with the ability to effectively communicate with all management levels, both verbally and in writing
- Detail-oriented with a strategic mindset, capable of balancing big-picture goals with tactical execution
- Approaches challenges with a can-do attitude, discretion, and adaptability
- Energized by working in a fast-paced environment and motivated to drive company growth
What the job involves
- Hi Marley is seeking an innovative and results-driven Head of Finance to shape our financial future
- As a trusted advisor to the CFO and CEO, you’ll drive strategic planning and financial decision-making to fuel our growth
- In this role, you’ll lead strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis, providing critical insights that influence our business direction
- We thrive on teamwork and shared enthusiasm, which is why this role involves joining us in the office for two days each week
- Strategic Planning: Drive annual budgeting and long-term financial planning, partnering with senior leadership to align budgets with Hi Marley’s goals
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Collaborate with accounting to deliver timely monthly and quarterly reports for management and Board review
- Performance Insight: Work closely with business leaders to identify and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) that drive financial success
- Revenue Forecasting: Partner with Sales Operations to ensure revenue forecast accuracy, setting clear goals and maintaining forecast integrity
- Business Forecasting: Analyze leading indicators to anticipate performance trends, providing actionable insights for strategic decisions
- Investment Support: Prepare in-depth analysis to guide future investment opportunities
- Executive Communication: Create compelling presentations for the leadership team, Board of Directors, and investors
- Special Projects: Lead and contribute to impactful projects and ad hoc initiatives
- Team Leadership: Build, develop, and inspire the FP&A team to support Hi Marley’s growth and success
Our take
The insurance industry can be notoriously frustrating for policyholders during the claims process, with a reported 40% of people considering a switch of insurers following a claim. This is the outcome that Hi Marley wants to help carriers avoid.
The company uses an AI-enabled communication platform designed to allow insurance carriers and their partners to talk to policyholders in real time via simple text messaging. This ultimately gives carriers more opportunities to satisfy and retain their customers.
Hi Marley has enjoyed rapid in recent years, with a quadrupling of its user base. It has also more than doubled the number of carriers using its platform, which now include the likes of American Family, MetLife, Auto-Owners, Erie, and MAPFRE. Improvements such as the addition of a suite of collaborative tools to its platform seem likely to help it maintain its edge in the market.
