Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of professional front-end experience in building web applications, following strong design principles to allow for theming and deep configurability of front end components
- Strong proficiency in React and related libraries (e.g., Redux, React Router, Context API, React Hooks, MUI)
- Strong understanding of accessibility standards like A11Y
- Experience with responsive and mobile-first web design
- Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools (e.g., Storybook, Webpack, Babel, Vite)
- Understanding of GraphQl and RESTful APIs and asynchronous request handling (e.g., Axios, Fetch)
- Understanding of responsive design principles and CSS frameworks (e.g., Tailwind, Bootstrap, or Material-UI)
- Experience working with complex and configurable SaaS platforms
- Proven ability to effectively contribute to technical strategy and roadmaps
- Strong communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical decisions to a wide audience
- Proactive, ownership-driven mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality work
Desirable
- You have worked in financial services, wealth services, or a related industry
- Experience with work orchestration or other related automation platforms

What the job involves
- We are seeking an exceptional Senior Full-Stack Developer to play a critical role in building the next version of our highly configurable platform
- In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize user-facing features for both our mobile and web products, building seamless client experiences
- You will focus on challenges related to maintaining and scaling configurable design components with emphasis on client experience, application performance, and non-functional requirements
- We use TypeScript across our platform, with React (web) and React Native (mobile) on the front end, and Node.js and MongoDB on the back end. Our platform follows a microservices architecture, hosted on AWS
- Develop and maintain responsive web applications using React, React Native, and JavaScript/TypeScript
- Build reusable components and front-end libraries for future use
- Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and cross-browser compatibility
- Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers and back-end developers to create intuitive user interfaces and seamless integration
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to break down work, serve as a technical subject matter expert, and deliver against the product and client roadmap
- Identify and proactively address areas of improvement throughout our technical stack, maintaining the long-term health and performance of our system
- Uplevel the team and individual engineers through through technical mentorship, best practices, and knowledge sharing
- Set high standards for technical and operational excellence, ensuring solutions are scalable, reusable, and secure
Our take
Wealth management has historically been the preserve of, well, the wealthy. Now, however, fintech developments have seen a flurry of startups bringing these services to the everyday consumer. The only problem is that assembling the right team, building a good product, and jumping through the regulatory licensing hoops can really hobble the rate of progress. OneVest has developed a suite of turnkey digital investment solutions to help these startups pick up the pace.
OneVest’s APIs allow tech companies and financial institutions to embed digital wealth management services in their client-facing products. Recent years have seen a rise in demand for digital wealth management and investment services, so the relatively young OneVest was savvy in identifying and closing in on this market opportunity.
OneVest has in fact moved impressively fast to build out its tech stack and secure various kinds of regulatory licensing since its launch. This demonstrates a real appetite and capacity for disruption. It will likely prove critical in securing a leading position in Canada’s as-of-yet relatively rigid wealth management sector.
