Who you are
- Strong JavaScript, fluent TypeScript, and experience with HTML5, CSS, all across different browser engine APIs in general
- Experience with modern JS frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue, or similar
- Familiarity with some of WebAssembly, WebGL, and/or WebGPU
- Familiarity with Media Communications technology and protocols, and/or VoIP, and some of the related industry open-source software and standards
- Experience in API design and/or SDK development
- Understanding of common challenges with cross-browser development
- Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and platforms
- Enjoys communicating with others and is always eager to learn new technologies and frameworks
- Has a taste for rigor and a strong track record of looking for the best test coverage
- Excellent written and spoken English
Desirable
- Experience with CI/CD in GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools
- Specific knowledge of some of the following media communication technologies or similar:
- Codecs: H.264/VP8/VP9/AV1/AAC
- WebRTC standards, RTP/RTCP, STUN, TURN, ICE, VoIP, SDPs
- Some familiarity with any of C/C++, Java, Objective-C, Swift, Kotlin, or other programming languages for native iOS/Android development
- Familiarity with backend technologies like Node.js, AWS, Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker for a more full-stack perspective
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Senior Web SDKs Software Engineer to join our Video Client SDKs Engineering team to explore new ways to further enhance and showcase the Vonage Video Platform, our WebRTC-compliant Communications Pass
- You will play a key role in shaping and advancing the roadmap to enhance the developer experience and endpoint media communications capabilities for our video APIs, making them more capable, accessible, and user-friendly for our customers' developers
- Your work will involve everything from managing and extending our Video WebRTC SDKs, creating user guides, developing sample applications, and building complete reference applications, alongside contributing to our APIs and playing a vital role in the development, expansion, and implementation of our low-code/no-code solutions
- Hands-on full stack software development
- Implement advanced endpoint SDK libraries for audio, video, and signaling real-time communications with special emphasis on VoIP technology, with full integration and interoperability with the overall Video Vonage Communications backend Platform
- Implement sample code, user guides, documentation, and even full-blown reference applications to help showcase how to use the SDKs for media communications and VoIP technology and interoperability of the Video Vonage Communications Platform
- Contribute to maintaining and evolving software stacks, including both proprietary and open-source software
- Work closely with product managers to help define product requirements for new products and features
- Write automated unit, spec, and integration tests
- Own projects end-to-end, from ideation to implementation and testing, and to deployment and monitoring, working hand-in-hand with communications technology experts
