Who you are
- At least 1 year of experience in contract review, drafting, and negotiations(In house preferred not required)
- JD from an accredited law school and admission to a State Bar
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously, work efficiently under pressure, seek appropriate supervisory input where needed, and consistently meet tight deadlines
- Strong analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills (both verbally and written)
- Demonstrated success building relationships and working across functional lines (sales, legal, operations, service, implementation, etc.) to achieve results
- Strong organizational skills and ability to be flexible and self-directed in a fast-paced environment as well as under the supervision of Associate Counsel
- Strong ethics, integrity, and values including ability to maintain confidentiality with respect to agreement contents and other highly sensitive business matters and projects required
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to be agile and learn systems
What the job involves
- We’re looking for an enthusiastic, goal-oriented Contract Attorney (Temp) to join our team who is excited about our passionate user base and is interested in joining a dedicated cross-functional team that engages with our customers and vendors
- As our Contract Attorney, your mission will be to support our Legal team in reviewing various contracts like NDAs, SaaS agreements, and Professional Services Agreements, in addition to reviewing and maintaining company records such as state/federal registrations and corporate governance documents
- You should be excited about [supporting journalism and PR through market leading technology. You’ll be a great fit for this role if you’re experienced in contract drafting and negotiation as well as cross functional collaboration
- This temporary position offers the possibility of transitioning to a full-time role based on performance and company needs
- Partner closely with Sales, Deal Desk, and IT
- First round review, interpret, draft, revise and negotiate terms in customer and vendor contracts. Our goal is to move contracts to completion in as expeditious a manner as possible while staying focused on protecting the interests of the Company
- Revise, update and maintain non-disclosure, and other standard form agreements; perform regular internal reviews of existing legacy contracts
- Support the legal team with training sessions and related projects

- Turn around time
- Ability to negotiate with customers and adhere to company terms
- Work cross-functionally with various teams
- Work collaboratively to provide recommendations to resolve to complex contract/company related questions

The nature of journalism has evolved since Muck Rack’s founding, with social media and digital outlets taking demand away from printed publications. As the landscape changes, Muck Rack has expanded their services to include a Public Relations Management platform.
It’s moves like this, as well as their shift into being a “distributed” business (hybrid or remote) that has ignited a renewed confidence in Muck Rack from investors.
