Who you are

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
3+ years of experience in backend or full-stack development
Direct experience with Node.js, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript
Knowledge of RESTful APIs and general web service principles
Familiarity Exposure to cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with an eagerness to learn and take feedback
Comfortable working in a collaborative, agile team environment
Experience working with GraphQL or RESTful APIs
Knowledge of version control systems such as Git and familiarity with pull request workflows
Interest in CI/CD pipelines and understanding the basics of automated builds or testing
Awareness of monitoring tools or performance metrics for backend services
Familiarity with frontend frameworks or Server-Side Rendering (SSR) tools such as Next.js is a plus
Coursework or exposure to software testing, data structures, or distributed systems concepts
Familiarity with other Server Side Languages

What the job involves

You will be a key member of our backend team and determine the core infrastructure of our next generation platforms and services to enhance our PlayStation ecosystem
Contribute to the development of backend systems that power the PlayStation platform as part of a collaborative Scrum team
Work closely with other developers and teams to support the design and implementation of platform services
Build and maintain scalable services using Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, including unit tests for features and bug fixes
Assist in troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving technical issues
Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving overall code quality
Create and maintain technical documentation for your work
Continuously learn and grow by engaging with senior engineers and adopting best practices in software development

Our take

Since the release of the PS1 in 1994, PlayStation has been a consistent leader in the video gaming market. Its consoles are iconic in the gaming community - PlayStation has produced both the top-selling and fastest-selling console of all time - and the company is still pushing boundaries. The upcoming implementation of in-game ads in free games looks to significantly increase revenue, and the wider PlayStation gaming experience also appears to be evolving from plans to launch live service games in upcoming years.
