Who you are

Experience in data analytics, including report/dashboard development and insight communication. Proficiency in visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)
Experience working with CRM databases and analytics. Knowledge of Tessitura is desirable, but not essential
Technical and data modelling skills (knowledge of SQL is essential. Python, R and/or SPSS are desirable, but not essential)
Strong communication and data storytelling skills, with the ability to convey insight clearly to non-technical audiences
Experience working cross-functionally and translating stakeholder needs into data products
Desire to develop skills in working with cloud-based data infrastructure, e.g. Microsoft Fabric

What the job involves

The Senior Data Analyst leads on the development and delivery of dashboards, models, and insight to support evidence-based decision-making across audience, digital, and commercial priorities
They play a leading role in maintaining the Gallery's reporting infrastructure, including our Data Analytics Platform, provide high-quality analysis, and translate complex data into actionable insight
They collaborate closely with colleagues both internally and externally, to ensure infrastructure is suitable for the organisation’s needs, sustainable, and scalable
Working under the direction of the Senior Data & Insight Manager, the role provides expert analytical support across the Gallery while contributing to the ongoing development of the organisation's reporting capability

Our take

The National Gallery, London, is a free-to-visit gallery housing the national collection of paintings. This collection spans the Western European tradition from the 13th to the 19th centuries, with pieces from artists the likes of Leonardo da Vinci and Vincent van Gogh.

Founded in 1824, the gallery has grown and developed over 200 years, preserving and sharing artworks with generations of visitors. It is now visited by millions of people every year, and its transformation continues, with a new wing planned to house a growing collection of 20th and 21st-century art.

It is the gallery's commercial arm, NGG, that generates the income to support the care and maintenance of the collection. This is done through associated cafes, restaurants and shops, as well as publishing, image licensing, merchandising and venue hire. On top of this, the gallery is undertaking fundraising efforts to support the new wing and further post-1900 acquisitions.

Director of the National Gallery since 2015, Gabriele was previously Deputy Director for Collections and Research at the Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid. Prior to this, they were a curator at the National Gallery, who was responsible for the later Italian paintings in the collection as well as the Spanish collection.
