Role
Who you are
- You’ll probably have upwards of 5 years engineering experience (Full Stack or Backend), plus point for experience line managing engineers, or a desire to move into people management
- You’ll have strong Typescript knowledge for Node.js server-side development and a strong understanding of multi-server architectures, databases (especially PostgreSQL and Mongo) and DevOps (building CI/CD pipelines, Terraform/Kubernetes, AWS ECS etc)
- You are passionate about product and user experience – customers are at the heart of everything you do! Strong commercial thinking is a plus!
- You’ll have a strong desire to have impact and taking ownership early on
What the job involves
- You’ll be involved in designing, testing and building new features from our driver-facing B2C app, leading new partner integrations, to B2B offers for corporate fleets
- Accountability for timely and reliable delivery for the Full Stack team. Provide direction and hands-on technical guidance to your team, making sure key processes are understood, documented, and followed
- Ownership over system architecture, technical design and DevOps
- Business alignment: Work with product and commercial team on developing team priorities based on the company’s business strategy
- We expect you to be 80% hands-on engineering work and 20% leadership until we scale the team more later this year, so expect to hone your people management and technical skills at the same time
- Your main goal is to create an environment that enables your team to perform and deliver on business goals
- Providing technical mentoring: Ensure your team follows engineering best practices, participate in architectural discussions, and prioritise infrastructural work if necessary
- [Optional] Performance management and team growth: Align your team with their responsibilities and goals, provide regular feedback and use data to assess your team’s performance twice a year. Provide growth opportunities to the people in your team, facilitate regular retros, and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement
- Hiring: Proactively identify gaps in the team, Influence the interview process, interview candidates, provide feedback and share accountability to ensure we make the right hires

- Technical interview (90 minutes) - we'll check for technical ability and management skills, and make sure we're generally aligned
- Take Home Task
- Final interview (90 minutes) - meet your future team and a couple of key shareholders
- Most candidates spend 2-3 weeks in our interview process, we'll always aim to keep it as short and enjoyable as possible

Our take
There are many different charging point companies out there and each requires a separate app, card, account, etc. It's a difficult and confusing landscape. This is the issue Bonnet wants to tackle - a network of all EV charge points that drivers can access through one application.
The business provides benefits for multiple parties: drivers looking for access to all charging points through a single monthly subscription, businesses thinking of electrifying their fleet, and owners of charging infrastructure wanting to increase the visibility.
With similar apps already on the market, Bonnet hopes to provide one that unifies all the features that drivers need, and has concentrated funds on expanding the platform's chargepoint offering and partnerships with network operators. Fresh funding will be used to accelerate growth off the back of strong traction throughout 2022, with Bonnet now boasting over 200,000 chargers on its network.
