Who you are

You have 3+ years of relevant product design experience
You have a strong visual design foundation and care deeply about the details that elevate work from good to great
You're curious about AI - whether that's using AI tools in your workflow, designing AI-powered features, or both
You have experience designing consumer-facing products, ideally at scale
You enjoy working through ambiguity and can navigate spaces where there isn't always a clear path forward
You believe in a culture of feedback and actively seek out input on your work and thinking
Experience in advertising, media, or content-adjacent spaces is a plus

What the job involves

We're looking for a mid-level Product Designer to join the Ads Design team, someone with a strong visual foundation and systems mindset who can craft beautiful, on-brand consumer ad experiences that scale across formats, platforms, and a global audience
Work on consumer-facing projects across the Spotify Advertising Platform to develop design solutions that feel native, polished, and on-brand
Guide product development through visual explorations and high-fidelity prototypes, leveraging AI tools to move faster and push the quality of your craft
Partner with product managers, engineers, data scientists, and researchers to define solutions and contribute to longer-term strategy
Work with user research teams to scope and support ongoing research projects that inform the consumer ad experience
Design solutions with inclusivity and accessibility at the forefront, ensuring experiences work for listeners worldwide
Share your work regularly with peers and participate in design reviews with design and company leadership

Our take

Spotify was founded in an attempt to combat the rampant music piracy that was causing significant harm to the industry. The company has since taken music streaming mainstream and now has 180m+ paying subscribers across the world.

With features that include a highly accessible interface and a vast catalogue of artists, Spotify's strong brand has been able to maintain growth in spite of fierce competition from deep-pocketed rivals like Amazon and Apple. The company has achieved this by making smart acquisitions to move into other verticals to strengthen its offerings, especially podcasting, by acquiring Gimlet Media, Anchor and Parcast.

Spotify's future plans include rapid growth with a goal to become a one-stop destination for all digital sound, as well as AI and NFT integrations. However, high costs incurred from the acquisition of exclusive podcasts, increasing competitor strength, and weak bottom-line growth mean that the company must find a balance to maintain its position in the sector.
