Who you are
- The ideal candidate will have a strong background in static pool analysis and performance history tracking, as well as the ability to work cross-functionally to build a narrative around loan performance metrics that informs both internal and external stakeholders
- 8+ years of relevant experience desired, primarily in capital markets and warehouse execution
- BS/BA in business, finance, accounting, economics, or a similar technical field
- Excellent work ethic and willingness to contribute broadly to achieve team and company objectives
- Strong verbal and written communication as well as technical and organizational skills
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Strong ability to read and interpret financial contracts and knowledge of core documents and industry standard/best practices in transactional terms
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google suites (particularly in Excel, PowerPoint, G-Sheets)
- Previous experience with lending or consumer credit products is a plus, such as mortgages, student loans, credit cards, and personal loans
- Previous experience with asset-backed securitization data sets is a plus: Bloomberg, Intex, DV01, etc
What the job involves
- You will support and enhance the company’s performance data reporting for external partners, including banks, investors and rating agencies
- This position will also be responsible for overseeing the organization's warehouse transactions, interpreting financial documentation and ensuring timely renewals and compliance across multiple financing facilities
- Collaborate with Risk and Credit teams to analyze and forecast key loan portfolio performance metrics, such as delinquency rates, default rates, prepayment trends and recovery rates
- Develop a deep understanding of key performance indicators and product performance trends and forecasts
- Build compelling analysis and decks to tell a clear story around performance trends and align stakeholders on results and expectations
- Lead the renewal process for all warehouse facilities, ensuring timely extensions or modifications to avoid disruptions
- Partner with Treasury to forecast utilization and manage liquidity needs effectively across multiple financing facilities
- Engage with lenders and legal teams in advance of maturity dates to negotiate terms and secure favorable outcomes
- In partnership with counsel and the deal execution team, review warehouse financing transaction documents and ensure alignment on transactional terms
- Review monthly servicer reports for accuracy, ensuring the completeness of all key metrics required by lenders
- Collaborate and provide strategic support to internal stakeholders such as credit, legal, engineering, product, treasury, accounting, servicing and finance
- Other ad hoc support as needed requested relating to whole loan sales, asset backed securitizations, new products, securities financing, unsecured lines of credit, and any other future financing initiatives of the company
Our take
SoFi started by offering ways for students to secure better financial terms on their loans, and now offers a huge range of personal finance products, including bank accounts, loans, mortgages, investment advice, and investment opportunities. Many customers find they have to go to multiple financial service providers to meet all their finance needs, but SoFi overcomes this issue by putting it all in one place.
Its goal, to cover all the financial bases, sets them apart from many of the traditional banks and even some of their digital competitors, such as Avant, which has chosen to focus on providing credit alternatives. Although it is operating in a competitive market with a lot of big players such as Monzo, Revolut, and Starling, the company has managed to raise huge amounts of funding to support its rapid expansion.
SoFi has focussed on global expansion, moving outside the US, and has made a series of acquisitions to support this - including a Hong Kong-based investment app called 8 Securities. After going public on the New York Stock Exchange via a SPAC merger in June 2021, the company has continued to evolve and release more mission-oriented services into its roster, and strengthened its lending capabilities through a $350 million post-IPO loan. To date, the company has sold over $15 billion in personal loan collateral and continues to strengthen its offering.
