Role

Who you are

  • Proven experience as an Executive Assistant at senior leadership level, ideally in fintech, legal, or financial services
  • Strong understanding of governance, compliance, and legal processes in a corporate environment
  • Experience in project management and executing high-level administrative initiatives
  • Proficiency in budget management, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Meticulous attention to detail—accuracy is non-negotiable
  • Exceptional business communication skills, including drafting executive-level correspondence
  • Strategic problem-solving ability, with strong decision-making skills
  • Ability to anticipate needs and proactively solve challenges
  • Strong technical proficiency, particularly in Google Suite, Microsoft Office and project management tools
  • Highly organised and proactive, with a structured approach to workload management
  • Comfortable handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Able to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Adaptable and eager to take on new responsibilities beyond traditional EA tasks
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Law, Finance)

What the job involves

  • We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Executive Assistant to support the General Counsel at Wise
  • This role goes beyond traditional diary and travel management—you will be a strategic partner, handling high-level projects, governance coordination, and financial administration
  • Working closely with the legal leadership team, you’ll ensure seamless operations, communication, and project execution in a fast-paced fintech environment
  • Executive Support: Act as a gatekeeper, effectively managing the General Counsel’s time, priorities, and stakeholder engagement
  • Strategic Coordination: Prepare executive summaries, high-level reports, and board materials to support decision-making
  • Governance & Compliance: Oversee legal team governance processes, ensuring best practices are followed
  • Project & Event Management: Plan and execute team offsites, events, and cross-departmental initiatives, including assisting with exec team and board events
  • Financial Oversight: Manage executive office budgets, invoices, and financial planning
  • Communication Management: Draft and refine internal and external communications on behalf of the General Counsel
  • Leadership Support: Lead administrative teams and contribute to strategic planning sessions
  • Please note, for this position we would require someone to be based onsite at our London offices

Our take

Wise started when the two founders realised they would be better off trading Estonian kroons for British pounds (and vice versa) between themselves rather than going through banks. That was back in 2011, and they've since grown Wise into one of Europe's most successful tech businesses, exchanging billions of currency every month.

Wise rapidly grew by solving a significant problem for customers, who lost too much money to banks when exchanging currency. They've attracted investment from some of the best investors in the world, from Andreesen Horowitz to Index Ventures and even Richard Branson.

The challenge for Wise will be maintaining their edge and brand power in a market that's becoming increasingly crowded with new entrants (like Revolut and Monzo) and incumbents (traditional banks) trying to catch up. To do so, the company is ramping up its digital and marketing strategies, as well as pushing for further development of its existing products.
