Who you are
- We are seeking a highly entrepreneurial Product Management leader to drive innovation and execute initiatives within the Connector and Dash Integrations Ecosystem across the company
- We value agility paired with exceptional product thinking, craftsmanship, execution rigor, and grit
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Business, Applied Mathematics or Statistics, or relevant field. MBA is a plus
- The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of PM experience
- Define and evolve the multi-year platform-building experiences, balancing a portfolio of foundational investments, run-the-business activities, and exploratory bets
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple partner stakeholders
- Demonstrates customer empathy for both internal and external customer needs and behaviors
- Capable of building alignment and listening well, but also able to make tough decisions by framing different options and trade-offs
- Skilled in analyzing and utilizing both quantitative and qualitative data to inform decisions
- A strong communicator with the ability to influence through cross-functional collaboration skills
- Strong technical and domain expertise in platforms
- A proven track record of successful product outcomes from concept to completion
- Comfortable with business strategy, portfolio and investment prioritization, cost analysis, key performance tracking, and financial metrics
- Ability to zoom in and out to deeply understand industry trends, platform ecosystems, and competitive advantages
Desirable
- Strong experience building integrations with platforms such as Zapier, Workato, Tray.io, IFTTT, Merge.dev, or similar
- Proficient in building and scaling APIs, including RESTful and GraphQL, with best practices for performance and security
- Experience scaling common data models and content normalization across diverse systems
- Proven experience in building and scaling data ingestion systems and data platforms
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Node.js
- Familiarity with data engineering and ETL frameworks, e.g., Apache Kafka, Spark, or similar
- Knowledge of cloud-based data storage solutions (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)
- Experience in working with GenAI products and platforms
- Experience in developing AI/ML platforms
What the job involves
- As a Staff Product Manager, you are working diligently to build the essential product and platform capabilities to scale and unify Dropbox's suite of products
- You will lead multiple teams in defining new products and platforms that have a company-wide impact
- This includes setting the product vision and strategy, implementing your roadmap, and iterating quickly based on learnings
- You will collaborate with cross-functional and cross-organizational teams to deliver innovative consumer and enterprise platform offerings, supporting our AI/ML-powered Dash products
- You will partner with a world-class team of engineers, engineering managers, product managers, technical program managers, designers, data scientists, and domain experts in Legal, Compliance, Privacy, and Security to solve complex customer challenges
- Own with High Agency: Take extreme ownership of capabilities, platforms, and experiments end-to-end. This involves adopting a hypothesis-driven and growth-minded development approach, where you will write product documents, lead cross-functional teams, and navigate trade-offs to achieve desired outcomes
- Prioritize for Impact: You will be responsible for balancing your product roadmap with short-term wins and long-term foundational work. Your ability to prioritize effectively will ensure that we consistently deliver the highest value to our customers
- Understand the Customer: Collaborate closely with our data science, research, design, customer experience, and all other cross-functional teams to gain a deep understanding of our users. This insight will enable you to ensure that our products and platforms continuously deliver value and improve the user experience
- Drive Results: Take a critical role in navigating through challenges that arise during product execution. This includes making strategic trade-offs, forecasting staffing needs, managing risks, and maintaining open and clear communication with all internal stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of your roadmap
- Future Vision Development: Envision and develop the future of the platforms, experiences, and integrations. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities for innovation and ensuring our products remain at the forefront of the industry
- Market Understanding: Stay abreast of market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to inform strategic planning and decision-making. Your ability to understand and anticipate market needs will be key in positioning our products for success and identifying new growth opportunities
Our take
Dropbox started by helping people bring together their files in one central place. The contents of these folders are synchronised to Dropbox's servers along with other computers and devices where the user has installed Dropbox, keeping the same files up-to-date across all devices.
Nowadays, there are lots of competing companies in cloud storage, and some with better distribution (e.g. Google and Apple). This explains why Dropbox is making a big push to reinvent itself after a fairly disappointing run since its IPO in 2018. The new Dropbox turns folders into "Spaces", which are collaboration hubs for teams, complete with comment streams, artificial intelligence tools and integrations into services such as Slack.
The company continues to build out its offerings through acquisitions, such as that of Formswift, bolstering its end-to-end agreement workflow capabilities. Indeed, It's very clear that Dropbox is trying to make a big move from being just a storage company. This seems to be a necessary move given the competitive nature of the industry it is operating within.
