Role
Who you are
- 3–5 years in partnerships, business development, or related roles in fintech, SaaS, or financial infrastructure
- Hands-on experience running partnerships end to end, from sourcing to negotiation to ongoing management
- Knowledge of the fintech and banking ecosystem, including ERPs, payments, digital banking, and embedded finance
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with executives and product leaders
- Builder mindset, comfortable in a fast-moving startup environment
- Must be based in NYC and work in person at our Flatiron, Manhattan office
What the job involves
- We are hiring a Partnerships Lead to be based in person in our Flatiron, Manhattan office
- Reporting to the VP of Revenue, this is our first dedicated partnerships hire
- You’ll be responsible for building and expanding Rutter’s partner ecosystem across fintechs, banks, ERPs, and digital platforms
- This is a high-impact IC role where you’ll own deals from sourcing to launch, and your work will directly shape how fintechs and banks deliver lending, payments, and financial automation to millions of SMBs
- Develop referral, reseller, and co-sell motions with ERPs, digital banking platforms, cores, BaaS providers, fintechs, and payment processors
- Work with sales and marketing on co-marketing campaigns and enablement programs that drive partner-led adoption
- Secure integrations and developer access with ERPs, digital banking platforms, cores, BaaS providers, fintechs, and payment processors
- Collaborate with product and engineering to scope and deliver integrations that enable distribution opportunities and strengthen Rutter’s core product by providing access and competitive advantage
- Manage relationships with partners to ensure they deliver measurable outcomes for Rutter and our customers, including adoption, distribution, and revenue growth
- Create the systems and playbooks for how Rutter tracks, reports, and scales partnerships
Our take
Rutter is on a mission to enable new commerce experiences. The company offers a universal API for reading and writing data across different commerce platforms. In doing so, it accelerates the development of new commerce and financial services by removing the complexities of dealing with different eCommerce storefronts, payment processors, and accounting systems.
As an example, if a company wanted to serve merchants and SMBS across Shopify, Amazon, and BigCommerce, they would have to build integrations for each platform one at a time. Rutter’s API removes the need to do so, saving valuable engineering hours and maintenance costs.
In 2022, the company received funding to accelerate its progress in becoming the infrastructure for the world’s commerce applications, investing in scaling out its engineering and go-to-market teams in preparation for expansion. With this in mind, it can be expected the company will be seeking growth soon, and it will be interesting how it sets about these expansion efforts in the coming years.
