Role
Who you are
- You are a strong product designer with expertise in user research, interaction design, and visual design, capable of leading initiatives as the sole designer
- You thrive in fast-paced, iterative, and agile startup environments, with a willingness to actively contribute to the company’s growth
- Extensive experience in product design, with 5+ years focusing on interface design and mobile products (Android, iOS), including significant experience operating as a solo designer, mentoring and supporting other designers in their tasks and professional growth
- Strong ability to understand business strategy and user needs, translating them into high-quality, user-centered solutions across devices
- Proficiency in user experience principles, design research, ideation methods, and user testing, including A/B testing
- Experience working in cross-functional teams, staying accountable, and collaborating effectively with stakeholders
- Proficient in Figma, with the ability to create, communicate, and deliver impactful designs and in-app copy
- Design degree, relevant qualifications, or equivalent industry experience, with a portfolio showcasing past work
What the job involves

- As Product Designer, you will be a key driver in the core product and subscription offering, with a sharp focus on usability and engagement
- Collaborate closely with a Product Manager and Engineering Team Lead in a product ‘triangle’ to continuously improve a product that impacts millions of people
- Own the user experience for the Clue app, from testing iterations to final production, working with product and engineering teams
- Conduct user tests and interviews as needed to create informed, thoughtful solutions and establish user empathy
- Partner with the Science team to understand use cases and needs from various health perspectives, ensuring scientifically accurate solutions
- Write clear, human-centered in-app copy in English, adhering to brand guidelines, with support from brand copywriters
- Collaborate with brand designers to ensure consistent brand representation within the app and align with leads across functions to develop a shared mission and direction

Our take
Clue is a femtech app built to offer a tech-based birth control method by tracking the fertility cycle. The company aims to encourage women and people with cycles to understand their bodies through its user-friendly app that offers in-depth information about their health.
Clue differentiates itself through its use of science to provide users with actionable insights regarding their health. Furthermore, it calculates fertility windows based on global averages instead of ovulation data, which makes its results more accurate. The company continues to collaborate with scientists and universities in order to ensure the product is as accurate as possible.
Clue also continues to focus on raising awareness about the importance of tracking periods and ovulation for health and family planning, and, with an increasing amount of research being done in this space, is well-positioned for further growth. The company has not been immune from wider economic effects and cut its staff early in 2023, though this was followed by a successful fundraise that will enable it to expand its product portfolio, scale its digital family planning offering, and invest in research.
