Role
Who you are
- 7+ years experience as a software engineer
- 7+ years working experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Expert knowledge with SQL and relational databases (e.g. SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL, SQLite)
- A background in shipping high quality software
- Nice to Have
- Familiarity with C++ and/or Rust
- Interest in and ability to work with a distributed team (requires good asynchronous written communication skills as well as good verbal communication skills)
- Willingness to provide and receive constructive feedback
- Contributions through asking questions and proposing new ideas
- A love of working with others collaboratively

What the job involves
- The Desktop Engineering team is looking for a Full Stack Engineer to work on AI-powered features and capabilities in Firefox, greatly expanding the value and agency of our web browser for loyal and new users alike
- Our team is geographically-distributed, and working in the open is the norm. We contribute to the code driving the Firefox browser on a number of desktop platforms - Windows, Linux, and macOS
- Build high quality user interfaces and experience for Firefox with accessibility and usability in mind
- Write code and tests, build prototypes, solve problems with no clear solution, collaborate with other designers and engineers to make the web a better place
- Learn about a wide variety of problems and solutions across a large, mature codebase
- Work with multi-functional teams, building relationships and nurturing collaboration to reach shared goals
- Help to level-up the skills of your fellow engineers through code reviews, giving talks, and/or writing documentation
- Promote and maintain high standards of code-quality, focusing on performance, testing, security, usability, accessibility and maintainability
- Work with driven, committed team members to bring the open web to people around the world
- Contribute to improving engineering practices and procedures

Mozilla creates and manages a range of free-to-use software products. Their most well-known product is Firefox, the fourth most popular internet browser in the world. Mozilla is a not-for-profit with a focus on promoting online privacy. The company has a published manifesto outlining its commitment to keeping a balance between commercial profit and public benefit.
The companies other products include Bugzilla, a bug management platform, and Pocket, an award-winning digital content filing service. In direct odds with Google, Mozilla has recently launched a new product Mozilla VPN. The VPN or virtual private network enables users to browse the internet without being tracked. Mozilla was also instrumental in creating the programming language Rust, which is admired for its brevity. Rust uses roughly half the amount of code as C++ to produce the same results.
