Role
Who you are
- You have or are completing a master’s degree in either Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Operations Research (knowledge in machine learning and/or Big Data is a big plus)
- You demonstrate proficiency in object-oriented programming
- You are adept at combining robust analytical skills with synthesis abilities, demonstrating a keen eye for detail
- You can write high-quality production code
- You feel at ease engaging with clients and excel in clear communication, both in English and French

- As a member of our data science team, you'll play a crucial role in deploying our solutions to clients while collaborating closely with our technical experts

- Deploying data processing pipelines for our clients, handling tasks such as batch and real-time data processing, data cleansing, and refining fraud detection models
- Working closely with clients to understand their needs and feedback, ensuring our solutions meet their requirements effectively
- Engaging in research and development activities to drive product innovation utilizing advanced technologies like machine learning, image analysis, natural language processing, trend analysis, and chatbots

Our take
The global insurtech market is projected to grow substantially given the increased demand for insurance service digitisation, projected market expansion, and developments in technology that have made it easier to buy and process claims. Insurtech helps create new avenues that large insurance companies have less incentive to pursue, such as offering social insurance and customised policies for clients.
In January 2021, Shift Technology introduced the Shift Insurance Suite to help the insurance industry apply AI-based decision automation and optimisation technology solutions. This addresses critical processes across the insurance policy lifecycle, and helps insurers to achieve faster, more accurate claims and policy resolutions.
Shift Technology is focusing on continuous deployment in the UK and the US, whilst exploring opportunities in Singapore, as it attempts to become an international player in the market. However, it must stave off a number of major competitors to do so, including Quantemplate, Slice and Neos.
