Who you are
- BS or MS in CS/CE/EE or equivalent industry experience with 7+ years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting firmware for complex board designs
- Strong C coding ability for embedded systems
- Experience integrating microcontrollers with analog and digital sensors
- Experience developing firmware in bare-metal or RTOS environments
- Solid understanding and application of coding best practices, board bring up and debugging
- Competence with common bus protocols such as USB, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS232, RS485, Ethernet, etc
- Competence with software development processes and tools such as git, Github, JIRA, etc
- Competence with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, current-probes, and automation of tests
- Familiarity with common MCU, CPU, FPGA devices and technologies
- Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance
Desirable
- Experience with one or more microcontroller cores (ARM, AVR, MSP430, etc.)
- Experience with FPGA development environment (VHDL)
What the job involves
- We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Engineer specializing in Firmware development to join our Maritime team
- You will work closely with the program leadership and a wide spectrum of cross-departments as part of a team focused on solving hard problems and changing the industry forever
- In this role you will be responsible for designing and supporting the integration of various subsystems, supporting testing efforts, and ensuring overall system performance meets the required specifications and standards
- Develop low-level firmware/software for microcontrollers, create reusable device drivers, integrate system-level features and architect changes to support an ever-growing codebase
- Troubleshoot issues that span the electrical and software boundaries, with solid skills using both lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, DMM, etc.) and basic software debugging tools
- Work closely with other electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, and test engineers to deliver fully functional products
- Help select microcontrollers and peripherals and review schematics with electrical engineering team
- Work in a fast-paced environment supporting new developments and customer operated hardware
- Conduct peer-level and cross-discipline design reviews
Our take
Anduril makes hardware and software for defense agencies including the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security. Its hardware products include specialist drones with a long flight time and surveillance towers.
This hardware is tied together by proprietary software, the Lattice platform, which uses sensor fusion, machine learning, and mesh networking to integrate real-time data from Anduril hardware and third-party systems into a single, autonomous operating picture. While the hardware observes and detects, the software can make decisions as to the threat level of any anomalies, and so allow for observation and protection of an area or building with minimal manpower.
Anduril closed a Series E funding round in 2022 led by Valor Equity Partners. This funding was used for research and development of its autonomous defense products, such as the Roadrunner, a modular twin-jet powered autonomous vehicle that can take off and land vertically. Variants of the Roadrunner include defensive warhead armed interceptors which are the first drone weapons that can be retrieved after deployment. The company has also expanded to Australia where it is working in tandem with the Australian Defence Force to improve its military technology and infrastructure and is recruiting talent worldwide to support its rapidly growing portfolio of defense projects.
