Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- +4 years experience in accounting in the payment industry or a related field, working in a senior position
- Prior Big 4 experience is highly valuable
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations
- Advanced proficiency in financial software tools and Excel, including Oracle
- Fluency in English is mandatory
- Excellent communication, analytical skills, and attention to detail
- Proactive and results-oriented attitude
What the job involves
- An Accounting Sr Associate at AstroPay ensures accurate financial operations by managing day-to-day accounting tasks, tracking company and intercompany transactions, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and policies. They handle month-end and annual closings, analyze financial variations, and collaborate on implementing new accounting systems while supporting internal and external audits
- Perform month-end and annual closing, partnering with the reporting and consolidation team, and analyzing month-to-month variations
- Ensure accurate tracking of all company and intercompany transactions, managing day-to-day accounting operations
- Execute accounting analyses and reports
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory guidelines, and company policies, implementing necessary updates and ensuring adherence across the organization
- Collaborate with IT and finance teams to implement new accounting systems or modules, ensuring seamless integration and consistency in accounting records and transactions
- Actively participate in the systems migration process
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including external and internal auditors, in order to ensure company objectives

Originally built as a digital solution for online purchases from foreign countries, AstroPay has since expanded to include a physical payment card as well as digital app services.
With over 200 payment methods and a commission-free service, AstroPay was a Latin American-founded company that has found its main market on that continent, competing with the likes of Monzo who have a hold on the digital payment industry in Europe. Despite AstroPay’s relative anonymity in England, the company has expanded its services to include cryptocurrency and in September 2022, partnered with Brazilian Huobi Global to enable this in Latin American nations.
As markets fluctuate in Latin America, cryptocurrency use has been on the rise, especially for younger generations. This has been promising for AstroPay’s recent expansions into the crypto market but has also drawn in large competitors such as Binance, adding more pressure for AstroPay to maintain its large client base.
