Role
Who you are
- We’re looking for kind, resourceful, and passionate people to join us in building the safety net for self-employment
- 2+ years of experience managing engineering teams
- 6+ years of experience building production software systems that have substantial operational constraints or requirements
- History of leading cross-functional projects and prioritizing work based on business impact
Desirable
- Previous startup experience and/or experience in hyper-growth environments
- Experience with financial risk and fraud
- Experience with bookkeeping or taxes and how it relates to self-employment
- Experience with banking or payment infrastructure
- Fluency in full-stack web development using some of the tools we use (e.g. React, Rails, MySQL, Cordova, Kubernetes, Spanner)
What the job involves
- Our engineering team is responsible for taking products from ideation to being used by tens of thousands of users every week
- We’re responsible for everything from building the product to reliable and performant technical operations
- Our Risk Engineering team is responsible for fighting fraudulent use of Found and minimizing losses related to risk and bad actors in the system, while maintaining an excellent user experience across the core product and internal operations
- We value moving fast, safely. The team has a large impact on how we grow our business and is responsible for external facing features, frameworks used by other product engineering teams and internal workflows
- We are looking for an Engineering Manager who is excited about driving the technical vision for the team, getting directly involved in the team’s work and supporting the growth and operational excellence of the team
- You’ll partner with our Head of Engineering and our other leads to drive success in this key part of our product and business. If you have any questions please include them in your application
- Drive the technical vision and strategy for your team; to inform what we build and how we build it. You’ll work with partners and stakeholders across the company while doing this
- Hire, mentor, and grow the engineers on your team, from setting them up for success during onboarding to challenging them to grow throughout their careers with the company
- Contribute directly to the team’s work via code, technical decision making and architectural and operational improvements
- Promote an engaged, positive, and product-focused, engineering culture
- Partner with our risk operations and customer experience teams on risk rules, policies, operations and tooling
- Build & update processes in support of positive customer outcomes while scaling our operational load
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and finance to build our development roadmap, headcount goals, and more
Our take
Traditionally, freelancers have been burdened with the need to juggle multiple tools and solutions to handle their bookkeeping, invoices, and tax responsibilities. In response to this challenge, Found was established with a mission to simplify financial management for the self-employed, providing them with precious time, cost savings, and peace of mind.
Established by two former Square executives with experience in payroll and SaaS solutions, Found functions as a financial hub for freelancers. It enables users to seamlessly manage their finances by offering services such as income deposits, the issuance of dedicated company debit cards, and tax calculations. Additionally, Found equips freelancers with real-time business insights and streamlines the process of making quarterly tax payments.
As the gig economy continues to thrive, the number of self-employed individuals has seen remarkable growth in recent years. In light of this trend, Found is dedicated to capitalizing on the opportunity by expanding its marketing efforts and enhancing its product offerings.
