Who you are
- Is a full-time rising Junior, Senior, or graduating at an accredited 4-year College or University
- Has an interest in people development, organizational effectiveness, or HR technology
- Enjoys conducting research, asking thoughtful questions, and synthesizing insights
- Has strong written communication skills and a structured approach to organizing information
- Is curious about how AI tools can enhance employee experience and operations
- Is proactive, reliable, and eager to learn in a dynamic environment
- Currently is pursuing a degree or has experience in Organizational Psychology, Human Resources, Business, Data Analytics, Knowledge Management, or a related field
- Is fully authorized to work in the United States
What the job involves
- Smartly is seeking a motivated and analytical summer intern to join our People Team and contribute to enhancing our HR and Learning & Development (L&D) initiatives.
- Over the course of the 10-week internship, you’ll engage in key projects focused on improving Knowledge Management, Learning & Development, and exploring the integration of AI tools to streamline and optimize our HR processes
- This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in HR strategy, people operations, and L&D enablement.
- You’ll collaborate closely with our HR, Global L&D, and Commercial Enablement teams to assess current programs, identify opportunities for innovation, and recommend improvements that align with our commitment to supporting Smartlies across the globe
- Analyze methods and metrics for evaluating the return on investment (ROI) of people programs such as Learning & Development, onboarding, and talent development
- Help audit and improve the learning & knowledge management systems we use to support Smartlies, including how our team creates and maintains learning content (e.g. Sana Labs) and documentation (e.g., Workday articles)
- Explore and recommend ways to optimize AI tools used in HR and L&D - for example, AI-powered content creation, training support, or process automation
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and participate in team meetings to understand current practices and identify opportunities for improvement
- Lead a final project that addresses one or more of these focus areas, with practical recommendations shared with the broader People team

Smartly.io helps advertisers automate their campaigns across the largest media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest. After seeing quick success following Facebook’s 2012 IPO, the company now works with over 700 brands including eBay, Uber, Ralph Lauren, Under Armour, and TechStyle.
Its suite of tools automatically creates ads and videos from product images, handling budget allocation, audience targeting, and where and when to purchase advertising. Consequently, Smartly.io has positioned itself to play a leading role in a market where brand and performance work are converging.
Smartly.io sold a majority stake to Providence Equity Partners in 2019 in a move to further its presence in the US. The company has since gone on to make several acquisitions of its own with Viralspace.ai and Ad-Lib.io.
