Who you are
- Proven above average problem-solving and analytical skills
- Proficiency in TypeScript, HTML and CSS
- Proficiency in React and NextJS
- Familiarity with server-side TypeScript (node.js, express.js) and databases (preferably MongoDB)
- Willingness to learn by doing, think creatively, and work with unproven solutions and/or incomplete knowledge
- Eagerness to learn through a feedback culture and share knowledge with the team
Desirable
- Experience with one or more subscription services such as Apple AppStore, Google Play, Stripe, Braintree or similar
- Experience with experimenting and A/B testing
- Proficiency in Swift, cloud services, and/or CI/CD/QA
- Experience with React Native, iOS, and/or Android development
- Passion for music
- Active interest in contributing to open source
What the job involves
- As a Software Engineer in flowkey’s Product-Led Growth team, you will work alongside our world-class engineering and other cross-functional product teams on a diverse, modern tech stack
- Together, we will work to solve our new users’ most pressing needs across a range of codebases and technologies spanning from web, to server, to mobile
- Every new user of flowkey will benefit from your work as they join the millions of users from around the world who have already begun to play the music they love
- In daily collaboration with the cross-functional Product-Led Growth team, you will work on the full TypeScript stack to optimize onboarding, messaging, subscription journeys and other touchpoints that drive user activation, engagement, and conversion
- One week you may be implementing UI improvements for an A/B test in React Native, the next you may be working with our subscription database via GraphQL, on our content management tools in React, or improving high-performance edge compute infrastructure for our website
- You will thrive in this role if you love self-directed autonomous work in a tightknit team
- Your experience with modern web and server technologies and a keen eye for rendering and load-time performance will be crucial to deliver innovations that captivate our users and drive business growth

Our take
Learning a musical instrument is an ambition for many, but the expense and logistics of finding a teacher can be off-putting. Flowkey is an app making it easy for users to learn to play the piano. Its extensive library of songs to learn, and its course collections, has put the company at the forefront of its space.
Profitable almost immediately after launch, Flowkey founders took part in Die Höhle der Löwen (similar to a German Shark Tank) and partnered with Yamaha. This gave the company great exposure early in its journey and it quickly became one of the global leaders in the market.
As the popularity of e-learning continues to rise, and the market with it, Flowkey should have ample opportunity for growth. It has over 10 million users worldwide, securing its position against its competitors as a pillar of the sector.
