Role
Who you are
- We’re looking for an experienced product-focused full-stack engineer to join our Product team, building the experiences that power hundreds of millions in on-chain volume on Zora
- You might lean more heavily FE or BE, but you should be comfortable moving fluidly between layers depending on what the product needs
- 4+ years of experience as a software engineer working on user-facing or product-centric systems
- Strong experience building both:
- Front-end applications at scale (React, React Native, Next.js, TypeScript)
- Back-end systems & APIs (Node/TypeScript, GraphQL, or similar)
- Ability to move fluidly across the stack:
- Front-end (React/React Native)
- Back-end (TypeScript/Node, GraphQL, Python)
- Smart contracts or on-chain logic (Solidity) — or a willingness to learn
- A strong product sense and a user-first mindset
- Comfort owning features from ideation through implementation and production support
- Familiarity with or desire to learn crypto/web3 concepts
- Desire to stay current with modern software best practices across full-stack development
What the job involves
- In this role, you’ll work across the entire stack—front-end, back-end, and smart-contract surfaces—owning features from design through launch
- You’ll evolve existing product features, design and build new ones, and collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering partners to bring magical, intuitive, and resilient user experiences to life
- Build and continuously improve trading-related features across web, mobile, backend services, and on-chain components
- Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and user interfaces that support high-scale trading and creation experiences
- Own projects end-to-end—from system design to implementation, testing, rollout, and post-launch iteration
- Work closely with PMs and Designers to shape product direction and ensure user needs are kept at the center
- Participate in code reviews, RFCs, technical design discussions, and architecture planning
- Collaborate with engineers across the stack, contributing wherever the product needs you most
- Participate in on-call rotation and help maintain reliability of core trading surfaces
- Communicate clearly with cross-functional stakeholders on status, risks, and milestones
Our take
Zora is one of a number of companies leading the growth of pro-creator platforms in the Web3 space with its Ethereum-based NFT marketplace. The company was founded in 2020 as NFTs began to dominate headlines, and swiftly raised major funding as a potential competitor to the incumbent leader in this space, OpenSea.
Though its rival OpenSea is the undisputed leader in the NFT marketplace, a number of growing pains and controversies have led to a demand for more decentralized avenues.
Zora has moved swiftly to take advantage of the growing pains and controversies plaguing its rival, quickly gaining a customer base of individuals and companies looking for alternatives. One of Zora's major strengths is that the marketplace protocol that it creates is also used by a number of third-party sites. In essence, Zora is both a sales platform and a SaaS for other businesses.
While the future of NFTs is difficult to predict given the extreme volatility the sector has experienced since 2022, Zora looks well-positioned to thrive as long as the market does. That being said, it is branching out into the AI space, under the understanding that there is a crossover market between the aforementioned and crypto.
