Role
Who you are
- Working closely with cross-functional teams, this role requires a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to managing and optimizing our database systems
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
- Minimum of 7 years of related work experience with data platforms
- Proficiency in a wide variety of database technologies (MySQL, Vertica, Cassandra, Redis)
- Knowledge in TiDB is a huge plus
- Experience with cloud-based database platforms (RDS, Aurora, Keyspaces, CloudSQL, BigTable)
- Experience with automation tools like Ansible and Puppet
- Experience in database design, implementation, and maintenance
- Strong understanding of database security principles
- Solid knowledge of backup and recovery processes
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Solid communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and in a cross-functional team environment
What the job involves
- As Senior Database Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, integrity, and security of our databases that meet the technological needs of our organization
- Design, implement, and maintain high-performance database systems that align with business objectives and technical constraints
- Ensure the integrity, availability, and security of databases through regular monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize database queries and ensure efficient data access
- Implement and enforce security best practices to safeguard sensitive data
- Stay current on industry regulations and standards, ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy laws
- Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies to minimize data loss and downtime
- Conduct regular testing of backup and recovery procedures to validate system reliability
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks, working proactively to optimize database systems
- Analyze and interpret performance metrics to make recommendations for improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing technical expertise and support
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to database design and configuration, manuals, technical guides, and operational procedures
- Balance long-term thinking with rapidly delivering solutions to improve our system’s stability

A comparison stemming from the company's ability to enable developers to integrate postage and shipping features into web applications. Which, at the time, was something legacy carriers like FedEx and UPS weren't taking advantage of.
As e-commerce has grown, EasyPost has expanded its reach and is now available in over 200 countries. It now offers Amazon Shipping, cementing its position as a market leader.
