Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field
- Experience: 3+ years in finance, ideally with experience in Corporate FP&A at a public company
- Strong understanding of financial statements and GAAP accounting foundations
- Experience using enterprise planning systems (e.g. Cognos TM1, Oracle Hyperion or SAP) for analysis and reporting
- Experience building financial models using Excel or Google Sheets modeling and data analysis
- Strong attention-to-detail, written and communication ability
Desirable
- Experience in leading continuous improvement projects with measurable results
- Experience with Finance Systems implementation (Cognos TM1, Oracle OFA, SAP, and/or Anaplan)
- Experience with Corporate Consolidations and P&L Management
What the job involves
- Reporting to the Senior Manager of Corp FP&A, we are looking for a motivated Senior Financial Analyst to join Twitch's Corporate FP&A team
- You will work closely with various partners including Finance, Accounting, and Amazon Corp teams to address challenges that directly impact Twitch's financial metrics
- You will support the forecast consolidation process, deliver management reporting, and use planning systems to expand data-driven decision making
- The successful candidate will design new processes, enhance existing reports, and build new models that provide actionable insights to the business
- This role will produce analysis and reports that directly contribute to decisions by our executive team, CFO, and all levels of finance leadership
- Prepare Twitch’s Monthly Business Review including the Consolidated P&L and variance commentary through leveraging Cognos TM1 and partnering with the business to understand variance drivers
- Support our team in financial planning through building complex financial models and analytical tools to measure overall financial performance, managing the financial planning calendar, guiding our FP&A team through forecast submissions and preparing review materials for our executive team
- Take a lead role in developing, standardizing, and continuously improving financial input templates to improve accuracy and accelerate forecast cycle times
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis as needed and present findings to senior leaders
Our take
Twitch is the world's leading video platform for gamers, allowing users to livestream gaming sessions and curate a dedicated community for their content. By dedicating the platform to gaming alone, it has amassed a loyal following of fans, and been able to launch its Partner Program where streamers can monetize their livestreams, incorporate corporate partnerships, and even attend TwitchCon, a convention where dedicated gamers can socialise.
Twitch's acquisition by Amazon in 2014 saw its viewers double in a year, bringing the platform to a wider audience. However, with YouTube streaming popularity on the rise, it has big competition to contend with, as some popular streamers prefer going live on the video giant. Interestingly, a recent move by the platform was to enable its partner streamers to make live content on other platforms - previously inhibited by its exclusivity clause - which may combat the possibility of losing streamers permanently to YouTube.
In 2022, Twitch had to contend with backlash for its proposal to cut creator income by reducing their cut of subscription earnings. However, with the plan only affecting a minute number of creators, the controversy appears to have died down. Needless to say, Twitch is for now entirely comfortable in the market - with possible plans to extend past gaming bringing the chance to generate more popularity yet.
