Who you are
- You have a pronounced hands-on mentality with a structured and solution-oriented way of working
- You show great skills in Go, Python, PostgreSQL, Docker, and Kubernetes
- You bring a good understanding of modern backend development practices and underlying technologies
- You can recognize the underlying design concepts of scalable applications and provide a thorough understanding of backend development principles
- Constructing well-structured, maintainable code and implementing automated testing is no big deal for you
- You have in-depth understanding of version control systems such as Git
- You are passionate about improving systems and building processes from scratch
- You have experience with Generative AI and worked with integrating applications with AI
Desirable
- Knowledge of GitHub Actions
- Experience with self hosted LLMs
- Understanding of machine learning concepts
- Experience in solution architecture
- Interest in new technologies and readiness to learn them

What the job involves
- We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer who will join an existing development team to build a Low-code/No-code SaaS platform for the public sector
- Collaborate with frontend, and design professionals to further develop our SaaS platform that satisfies the needs of our customers and internal users
- Develop server-side logic, including data storage, to optimize the platform’s performance
- Provide code reviews and implement suggested improvements to your own code
Our take
By its very nature, local government bodies and civil councils collate a lot of data but don’t always have the resources or the technology to manage it efficiently. Polyteia pitches European governments with a digital platform that brings together and analyses the data of constituents, thus saving time and money for civil servants.
Whilst data management platforms are nothing new, Polyteia’s product is flexible and has a freedom to it that’s attractive enough to governments and city councils that it raised 3 rounds of funding between 2019 and 2023. Its bottom layer allows users to configure their own input masks, thus helping them focus in on the specific data types they need rather than wholesale, broader gathering. In a time of inefficient governance and appointment backlogs, Polyteia’s platform could help solve these problems as well as a skilled worker shortage all across Europe.
With more than 80 customers in Germany alone, Polyteia plans to use its March 2023 funding to build a no-code platform for government employees and expand its customer net. Having boosted its sales fivefold between 2021 and 2022, Polyteia is on a positive path.
