Role
Who you are
- 2+ years of IT experience, ideally in a startup or creative/tech-heavy environment
- Experience supporting office infrastructure and live events (internal or public-facing)
- Strong troubleshooting skills and comfort supporting Mac-based environments
- Familiarity with Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, Zoom, and other common SaaS tools
- Bonus: experience with MDM tools (like Kandji, Jamf), SOC2 or IT compliance standards, or AV setup
- High attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
- Clear communicator who enjoys collaborating with people across teams
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a hands-on, startup-savvy IT & Office Technology Specialist to join us in building the backbone of our in-office experience
- You’ll lead all things IT and technical operations at our Hollywood HQ — from new hire setups and internal tooling to preparing our space for high-impact events and team growth
- This is not your standard IT role
- You’ll partner closely with Workplace, Events, and Ops to ensure our physical space runs seamlessly — especially as we scale our headcount and start throwing some truly epic events from our office
- Whether you're troubleshooting a laptop, optimizing our Wi-Fi, or setting up event AV for a panel with hundreds of guests, you’ll be the tech hero behind the scenes
- Be the go-to for all in-office IT support — handling tickets, walk-ups, and urgent troubleshooting across hardware, software, and systems
- Set up and maintain employee devices, monitors, accessories, and user accounts (Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, etc.) for all new hires and contractors
- Own network infrastructure at HQ — including Wi-Fi, routers, and connectivity for team and guest use
- Partner with our Workplace and Events team to power tech for company events, including AV, sound, lighting, and live streams
- Prepare the office for scaling — recommending and implementing systems, tools, and layouts that support a growing team and future event programming
- Track and manage IT inventory, software licenses, and security protocols
- Troubleshoot and support printers, office displays, conference room tech, and other connected devices
- Coordinate with outside vendors (e.g. internet providers, IT consultants, AV rentals) when needed
Our take
Traditionally, most media was created and controlled by a few central organizations. Then, the internet came along and platforms like YouTube and Facebook democratized content creation while controlling distribution. Now, with the advent of blockchain technologies, Passes is attempting to decentralize power to the creators themselves.
The company delivers a platform for creators to scale their content and own their audiences. For example, a creator could monetize exclusive content such as special merch or even private phone calls. In theory, this should be a dream for creators, but Web 3.0 platforms such as Passes have found that in practice it can be difficult to onboard users.
With that said, Passes claims it is growing and profitable, with payments to creators in the nine figure range. It is also well-funded and acquired rival monetization platform Fanhouse. It should be noted that the company was sued in 2024 over alleged anti-competitive practices, and more recently faces a class-action lawsuit accusing it of distributing child pornography - though Passes strongly refutes these claims.
