Role
Who you are
- Master or PhD degree in Computer Science or related field
- 8+ years of professional software development experience
- Proven experience as a Tech Lead or Staff Engineer in software development
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a team of engineers
- Successfully launched an AI product that generated significant ARR. Familiar with end-to-end AI product lifecycles
- Strong proficiency in C++
- Deep understanding of ML models, especially models running on embedded devices with limited resources
- Specialized in at least one type of models, e.g. image recognition, NLP, and/or models in automotive space
- Deep understanding in model optimization
- Solid experience in Linux based multithreading and IPC framework
- Experience with the prominent GenAI models
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Desirable
- Familiarity with Rust
- Experience with embedded systems and automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN) is a plus
- Experience with automotive product development (e.g. CAN, AUTOSAR, FreeRTOS, UDS, etc.)
- Experience in project management and agile development methodologies
- Built models in automotive space, e.g. BMS, Tire wear calibration, Camera-based object recognition

- As a part of a cross-functional team that is responsible for the full software development life cycle, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and products, from conception to deployment
- Product Development: Develop and deliver highly performant, secure, and efficient AI products on embedded devices, ensuring they meet rigorous performance and quality standards
- Innovation and Research: Conduct research and experimental development on cutting-edge AI optimization to improve resource efficiency
- Product Alignment: Work closely with and offer technical suggestions to the Product team in defining the AI product requirements
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with business development and go-to-market teams to understand client requirements and develop customized, impactful solutions
- Stakeholder Communication: Clearly articulate complex AI concepts and solutions to non-technical stakeholders, promoting understanding and alignment
- Documentation: Establish and maintain comprehensive documentation for AI products, including functional specifications, software architecture specifications, and user guides
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence
Our take
Software-defined vehicles represent the biggest innovation in automobiles for decades, but there are large obstacles in the way of their growth. The software that defines such vehicles requires over-the-air (OTA) updates and other forms of maintenance, which can quickly become a time-consuming and resource-intensive process.
Sonatus develops cloud-based solutions for software-defined vehicles, providing a platform called Digital Dynamics that empowers automakers to harness vehicle data, add feature updates, diagnose problems, and maintain vehicle infrastructure wirelessly and in real time. The company achieves its flexibility through cloud-empowered data infrastructure, no-code software solutions, and working closely with clients.
Whilst the company faces competition from other IoT vehicle software companies, Sonatus shows great potential to compete through its all-in-one approach. This has earned it impressive funding, which supports further development and the increase of production volume, as well as the company's expansion into the Japanese market.
