Role
Who you are
- You have strong work experience in JavaScript and/or Typescript. Our entire tech stack (front end and back end) is built using TypeScript, so you must be very experienced in at least JavaScript
- You have strong experience with ReactJS. Our frontend stack is built on React / Remix; React experience is a must, Remix experience isn’t expected but would be a bonus!
- You have experience working in a serverless environment; our frontend is built on Cloudflare Workers / Pages, so any experience with this would be a plus
- You have good experience writing unit tests (Jest would be ideal)
- You enjoy working with cross-functional teams. At Waggel all the disciplines get involved in projects from the get-go; we follow a ‘strong opinions, loosely held’ ethos, so you’ll need to be comfortable getting into discussions with other disciplines as to the best way to approach a project
- You’re enthusiastic and proactive - you bring ideas to the table, overstep your boundaries and challenge those around you
What the job involves
- You'll be championing high quality deliverables by building new features while maintaining the current system. We have a very exciting roadmap planned for the next few years and we need an accomplished developer to join our team, hit the ground running and help deliver what we have planned
- You’ll work cross-functionally with backend, creative, marketing, sales and ops to make the correct decisions as to what we should and shouldn’t be building, along with the decisions on how things are built
- You’ll be increasing the robustness of our systems by proactively adding testing, fixing security holes, and implementing best practices. There’s a lot of scope here for exploration and recommendation as to how we can make our frontend stack better

Waggel was founded on the belief that pet insurance should be seamless and simple. By stripping away the traditional stresses, complexities, anxieties, and fears often associated with insurance, Waggel is reinventing the industry with its intuitive and easy-to-use platform.
Established names in this industry include Allianz PetPlan, L&G Pet and Direct Line Pet. However, 45% of cat or dog owners do not have pet cover as many are unconvinced by the value that pet insurance offers. Waggel targets these untapped customers who cannot or would not commit to a standard annualised insurance policy by offering a pay-as-you-go subscription model.
With customers demanding transparent, digitally-based solutions, Waggel is well-placed for filling this niche and offering a solution for the next generation of pet owners.
