- Working knowledge of Go or TypeScript, or a track record of picking up new languages quickly
- Comfort with Linux fundamentals: the shell, SSH, services, containers, and basic networking
- An interest in working across multiple layers of a system, from backend services to user-facing tooling
- Familiarity and growing proficiency with AI coding tools
- Basic knowledge of PostgreSQL, distributed systems, or deployment automation is a strong plus
- Experience working in collaborative environments with other technical contributors
- We don't require previous experience with our tech stack, but enthusiasm for learning is key
What the job involves
- As a Software Engineer for TimescaleDB Enterprise, you’ll help build and support our on-prem enterprise platform: a solution that enables customers to deploy, manage, secure, and operate TimescaleDB in their own environments
- This is a high-growth role for a builder who wants to help develop both the product and technical foundations of an evolving enterprise offering
- You’ll work across the full stack of the experience, including operational tooling and deployment systems, helping us turn complex enterprise requirements into pragmatic, scalable solutions
- You’ll partner with senior engineers to deeply understand operational pain points and build software that solves real-world infrastructure challenges
- Learning from and contributing to the design and development of TimescaleDB Enterprise, our on-prem deployment and management platform
- Developing core product capabilities under guidance, including:
- Management consoles and user-facing tooling (React + TypeScript)
- Backend APIs and services (Go)
- Deployment workflows and configuration management (Ansible)
- Operational tooling for production PostgreSQL databases
- And customer administration experiences
- Writing tests at every level, from unit tests to automated end-to-end testing against real infrastructure
- Gaining experience in technical decisions across the product lifecycle, balancing speed, maintainability, and customer experience
- Working with senior engineers to understand operational requirements and translate them into pragmatic product solutions
- Implementing new features while learning to improve reliability, usability, and operational simplicity
- Collaborating with Platform Engineering and cross-functional stakeholders across Product, Support, and Sales Engineering
- Supporting the implementation of the long-term product and technical direction of the Enterprise platform
- Learning to operate effectively in ambiguous environments where priorities evolve and engineers are expected to drive clarity
- Leveraging AI tools daily to accelerate development, debugging, and product iteration workflows
- Our technologies include PostgreSQL, Tiger Cloud, AWS, Go, Docker, Kubernetes, Python, and innovative features like Hypertables, Hypercore, vector search, and real-time analytics

Timescale helps developers and businesses manage and analyze big data sets that power large-scale operations. It offers this through its own open-source time-series SQL database which, unlike many competitors, is built with PostgreSQL.
