Role
Who you are
- You have at least five years of professional experience as a software developer
- You have experience in the technologies PHP, Symfony, Vue.js and JavaScript or preferably even TypeScript
- You have a basic understanding of quality assurance and code reviews
- You want to work in an agile and international environment with a strong vision
- You are proactive, problem-solving oriented and enjoy working with and supporting your team
- You will work mostly on innovative topics you are curious about new Tech trends (like AI, 3D, ML, etc.) and you should have the willingness to do some researches and try out new things by yourself without a clear and defined task list
- You have a strong ability to work independently
- You are willing to speak English on a daily basis with other teammembers
What the job involves
- You develop and implement innovative product features and extensions for our open source e-commerce solution "Shopware 6" based on PHP (Symfony) and JavaScript/TypeScript (Vue.js)
- You work closely with other development teams, which consist of the roles Engineers, Design and QA
- You work on the basis of agile development methods using a two-week Scrum sprint, including the tools Jira and Confluence
- You will provide support with software documentation and within our open source developer community
- You will also invest time in research&development by discovering and trying out new and different technologies
- You will implement proof of concepts and MVPs
- You test your software independently (Unit/Functional/E2E) and carry out code reviews to make your software quality more stable and reliable
- You pay attention to details in the implementation of responsive web design and have an eye for cross-browser compatibility, accessibility and performance
Our take
The eCommerce boom in recent years has shown no signs of slowing down, and Shopware is capturing the opportunity. The company offers a set of open source tools to power the online shopping experience for hundreds of thousands of brands.
There are of course competitors, like Shopify Plus, but Shopware has stood out for serving mid-market companies that were not digitally-native businesses but had to take on digital channels to keep up with customer demand. This, combined with the obvious increase in brands and companies needing help when eCommerce became more mainstream, has served Shopware particularly well.
Founded in 2000, the company only received its first round of funding in 2022. Until then, it had been profitable off its own back. This capital and support from, among others, Carlyle and PayPal will be invested in its international growth.
