Role
Who you are
- 4+ years of software engineering experience
- Fullstack experience building modern database-backed (sql/no-sql) web applications
- Previous production experience with React, Typescript, or Node.js
- Experience working directly with product and design teams
- Experience working on time-sensitive projects, balancing multiple stakeholder’s needs
- Good understanding of modern applications architecture, API design patterns, data modeling, security, performance, and scaling
- Experience driving all phases of the development lifecycle: planning, specing, execution, and measuring success. With an emphasis on the later stages of a project
Desirable
- Experience with test driven development. Building/leveraging testing frameworks
- Track record of strong ownership and consistent project execution and delivery
- Complex problem solving, grit, and willingness to engage with high complexity and/or ambiguity
- Demonstrable experience building sources of truth systems, leveraging events and workflows, that integrate with 3rd parties
- Collaborative working style, with a bias to helping others in the team grow and giving/receiving feedback
- Experience with on-call, willingness to deep dive complex issues and drive them to resolution
- Self awareness and growth mindset
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Provider Access team
- This role will focus on developing and maintaining Rula’s onboarding experience for providers (the therapists and psychiatrists working with us)
- In this position, you will design and build robust full-stack solutions that are essential for the growth and operations of our provider network
- You will be responsible for implementing new features and ensure a seamless user experience in our provider onboarding flow through both back-end and front-end development
- You'll address complex technical challenges and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to innovate and improve our offerings
- You will get to work across all of Rula's stack, both by contributing directly to our product and its development, as well as by driving meaningful technical conversations and solution-oriented decisions

Our take
More than half of adults in the US will be diagnosed with a mental illness during their lifetime, and yet inaccessibility of treatment remains a huge problem. That’s what Rula aims to solve, with its platform that matches users to therapists that are covered by their insurance.
The company, formerly known as Path, is partnered with a number of major health insurers, including UnitedHealthcare and Anthem, making it an accessible service for millions of Americans. It allows users to browse therapists almost instantly, with just a short questionnaire to fill in before their matches are shown.
Though the market for tech services offering mental health provision is an overstuffed one, containing giants like BetterHelp as well as newer competitors, Rula's partnerships with insurers do mark it out against the crowd. The business has been steadily growing, and significantly bolstered its executive team in 2023. Its recent rebrand was designed to emphasize its vision to improve not only access to mental health care, but also clinical outcomes.
