Who you are

We are seeking a talented Go developer with strong expertise in Kubernetes to join our Engineering team
Passion for working on deeply technical projects and wanting to work on distributed systems, concurrency & parallelism, and correctness
Strong understanding of Go and Kubernetes
Experience and comfortable working with a 100% distributed engineering team, collaborating on GitHub, in the open and a self-starter
Passion to grow a culture of written tradition
Comfort working within a small team and 100% distributed engineering org collaborating on GitHub, JIRA, Slack, and video meetings
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels of the organization

Working knowledge of building Kubernetes operators for storage systems
Experience building a SaaS platform
Operated and used streaming platforms either as a user or provider

What the job involves

In this role, you will focus on developing and maintaining our Kubernetes operator and related Helm charts
You will collaborate closely with our cloud and core engineering teams to build robust and scalable systems, with an emphasis on stability and safe upgrades with zero downtime
Contribute to our Kubernetes operator and Helm chart, both internally and at customers and members of our community
Be an expert at all things Kubernetes, influencing designs and implementations of Redpanda running over both managed and unmanaged Kubernetes
Contribute meaningfully to the test coverage of operator
Participate in an on-call escalation chain, help drive down problems that lead to on-call escalations, and help drive improving on-call quality of life

When dealing with real-time data streaming workloads, the simpler the infrastructure the better. Redpanda was developed as an alternative to the complex industry standard, Apache Kafka (which needed to be used in tandem with ZooKeeper). Redpanda’s Kafka-compatible platform increases businesses’ operational efficiency by allowing them to switch to a single platform.
