Role
Who you are
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Staff or Lead Frontend Engineer or similar senior-level frontend engineering role
- Hands-on technical leadership experience, providing direction and mentorship to frontend teams
- Extensive experience with React for developing rich, interactive web applications
- Strong skills in building and optimizing high-performance, responsive, and accessible web interfaces
- Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with a deep understanding of modern web development techniques and tools
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining frontend architectures, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance
- Experience in UI/UX design principles
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication, collaboration, organizational, and time management skills
Desirable
- Experience with server-side rendering BFF framework (e.g. Remix, Next.js)
- Familiarity with cloud-based services (AWS, GCP, Azure)
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Staff Frontend Engineer with a product engineering mindset who will play a key role in defining and implementing our frontend architecture
- You will drive best practices in frontend development, set technical direction, and ensure we create highly scalable, maintainable, and user-centric applications
- Your expertise will be instrumental in setting the vision for our UI/UX strategy and frontend technology roadmap
- Define and drive the evolution of our frontend architecture and user experience
- Provide technical guidance and mentor other engineers on best practices in frontend architecture, design patterns, and development workflows
- Establish and execute the frontend technology roadmap, focusing on scalability and maintainability
- Architect and develop reusable, scalable components, frameworks, and features with a strong emphasis on code quality, performance, and accessibility
- Define and establish coding standards, ensuring a high level of quality, security, and performance in all frontend projects
- Act as a champion for operational and engineering excellence, identifying areas for continuous improvement and leading initiatives to address them
- Identify and pioneer innovative solutions to enhance frontend workflow, CI/CD, and deployment processes
- Tackle complex issues in UI performance, and accessibility to ensure seamless, high-quality user experiences
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align strategies with broader product and engineering goals
Our take
Localization can be a headache for companies shipping products to new markets, involving lengthy manual work and often highly general tools like Excel. Add to that the complexities of updating localization strategies to align with new agile software development methods, and it can prove a real hurdle for companies looking to expand their global footprint.
Lokalise allows for localization to be centralized and knitted more tightly into the development process, anticipating pernickety issues like formatting errors thrown up if translations require more space in the target language. This is a substantial development on translation-only services, but it’s becoming an industry standard also offered by competitors like RWS and Memsource.
What will help the relatively young Lokalise compete is a 2,500+ strong customer roster, which includes major enterprises like Revolut, Virgin Mobile, and Starbucks. It’s helped Lokalise cause a stir in the industry, and with global expansion on the rise across all major sectors, it should help the company continue its already impressive growth going forwards.
