- Between 0 and 1 year of experience in sales and account management. We are happy to consider young graduates as well as candidates with experience in the steel industry
- Professional proficiency in both Polish and English is essential for this role. Knowledge of other languages, Romanian and Hungarian in particular, is highly valued
- Availability for a six-month internship with the potential for conversion to a full-time position upon completion
What the job involves
- We are looking for an outstanding individual to join our Berlin office as a Junior Trader (Intern) responsible for the Eastern European markets, working closely with senior management
- As a Junior Trader, your primary objective will be to increase the P&L of the Eastern European region by sourcing and executing profitable transactions
- This will require a combination of analytical skills and effective client interaction
- Your role is pivotal in enhancing Vanilla Steel's growth and establishing robust, profitable operations
- You will engage in diverse company activities, specifically tailored to align with Vanilla Steel’s evolving business needs:
- Manage the Eastern European markets, with a particular focus on Poland, Romania, and Hungary
- Generate brokerage and trading activity on behalf of Vanilla Steel
- Ensure thorough follow-up on deals, coordinating with the operations team for logistics and payment processes
- Leverage existing client relationships. Be one of the key account managers for our Eastern European customers, with both supplier and buyer coverage
- Proactively reach out to potential new clients, initiating cold contacts and arranging meetings to expand our customer base
- Manage operational activities of the trading platform, such as preparing transactional data and order confirmations
Our take
Vanilla Steel’s online marketplace makes it easier for companies to buy and sell excess steel across the EU. By connecting producers to buyers at regular auctions, both parties are able to cut down on negotiation time and administration while helping address industry-wide issues such as overproduction, excess capacity and slow-moving inventory.
The company's co-founders have previous industry experience at global leader Thyssenkrupp, where they met and conceptualized the idea for Vanilla Steel. As Europe’s only current independent digital platform solely for steel, the company has already carved out a solid market niche and built a client base sapnning more than 50 countries.
Vanilla Steel has been backed by June Fund as well as Seedcamp and Mustard Seed Maz. It is looking to connect with even more suppliers, and to bring additional digital solutions to a traditionally analogue industry.
