What the job involves
- MycoWorks is seeking a Marketing and Communications Coordinator to join our team in Paris, France
- This position will focus on managing relationships with external PR teams, coordinating special projects and events, and acting as a liaison between internal departments
- This role will also include administrative responsibilities, such as handling vendor payments and managing event logistics
- Success in this position requires a balance of creativity, strategic thinking, and a hands-on approach to day-to-day tasks
- Manage media and partner requests in a timely and professional manner
- Organize, schedule, and prepare key leaders for press interviews
- Draft, brief, and supervise all writing needs including press releases, pitches, case studies, white papers, and media summaries
- Track and analyze media coverage to inform future PR campaigns and strategies
- Oversee PR relationships, handling strategic communications for media outlets and publications
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to fulfill press requests and ensure consistent messaging across platforms
- Measure PR initiatives and provide regular reporting on their effectiveness
- Contribute to the global communication plan presentation
- Identify, develop, and coordinate artistic collaborations, institutional partnerships, and special projects, managing relationships with creative partners to ensure alignment with MycoWorks’ branding
- Plan and staff in-person events such as conferences, speaking engagements, and other public appearances
- Assist the Marketing team with tradeshow and event planning, ensuring MycoWorks and Reishi™ are positioned according to communication strategies
- Manage day-to-day requests from internal and external partners, including coordinating meetings and sharing assets (e.g., images, videos, info sheets) with agency partners, event organizers, and press contacts
- Manage administrative tasks, including processing invoices through D365, ensuring timely vendor payments
- Oversee day-to-day logistics like shipping and courier needs for events, press materials, and media kits
Our take
A growing awareness of the damaging environmental impact of animal skin clothing is leading the fashion industry to seek alternatives. Alternatives to leather products have been designed in the past, but generally result in a compromise on quality and authenticity.
MycoWorks has created a biotech platform for fashion and luxury industries to purchase fungal-based biomaterial. Existing plant-based fabric companies such as Bolt Threads and Desserto already offer alternatives through fungal and cactus-based materials. However, MycoWorks differentiates itself from the competition by focusing on making its fabrics highly durable with no compromise on quality.
MycoWorks is currently focusing on offering its Mycelium fabric as an eco-friendly material for footwear and other clothing brands. However, they aim to scale their startup by developing materials outside of Mycelium and providing a broader range of future-proof materials.
