Role
Who you are
- A product mindset is core to how we build - everyone at Capi is encouraged to think about the customer, the business, and the long-term impact of what we ship
- Experience in a VC-backed or high-growth engineering team and building products used by customers
- A strong understanding of web development, frontend and backend best practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for expressing ideas, designs, and potential solutions with both technical and non-technical team members and customers
- You care about our mission and solving the problems faced by African businesses
- Comfortable working in an early-stage startup environment with high pace, rapid growth, involvement in the entire product development process and a high degree of ambiguity
- Based in London or Paris

What the job involves
- You’ll join a small, high-performing team of engineers and product leaders shaping how we scale our platform and our impact
- You will have the opportunity to work closely as the founding team to shape the product vision and all parts of our technical architecture
- As we scale our products and deepen our presence across emerging markets, this is a role that builds technology to solve customer problems
- To do that you must have empathy and curiosity to get to the root cause of the issue and the creativity to build a solution which balances impact, effort and delight
- Create beautiful web interfaces for business owners in Africa and interactive dashboard experiences using technologies such as React, Next.js, JavaScript, CSS
- Ensure our UI components and libraries are reliable, secure, extensible and accessible
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers, product managers, designers, and other members of the team to create a cutting-edge product
- Implement IT security and data protection best practices in a regulated environment
- Observe opportunities for improvements internally to help automate our non-tech processes and add to our tech best practices to improve our output and efficiency
- Communicate internally and externally about new features, be it collecting feedback pre-implementation or explaining them on launch
- Some projects we’ve worked on in the past:
- Automated payouts and AI invoice approval
- Onboarding + payment automation with Swift network and banking partners across the world
- Revamped Customer onboarding processes
- WhatsApp bot that creates quotes for customers based on their responses
- Self-serve onboarding flow that collects company information and KYC documents from customers
- Asynchronous workers that OCR invoices
- Internal tooling to manage and process millions of dollars of transactions
- Our stack is: Typescript, React, NextJS, NodeJS, Express, PostgreSQL
- Ideal Start date: December 2025 (we are aware that a notice period may need to be fulfilled and can adjust accordingly)
Our take
In Africa, goods importers pay as much as 10% to settle their invoices - and wait weeks for the payment to arrive. Capi is setting out to combat this, with its international payments platform built specifically for importers in Africa.
Through the platform, users can pay suppliers in EUR, UDS or GBP. All at competitive rates and with settlement in just 24 hours. This is a significant improvement to the present situation, which makes Capi stand out almost by default.
With strong support from investors, with a 17.2 million euro Series A raise in 2025, Capi is in a good position to broaden its impact in the future, as it strives towards a future where African companies have the same quality of payments as in the US and Europe.
