Role
Who you are
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing secure firmware solutions for embedded systems, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of data throughout the product life cycle
- This role requires expertise in firmware development and a basic understanding of cryptography
- PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in embedded secure firmware development
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Assembly and Python
- Strong understanding of embedded systems architecture
- Proficient in using debugging tools and version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Desirable
- Experience with security practices such as threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and secure coding standards
- Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, including Agile/Scrum
- Experience with side-channel counter measures and/or fault tolerance code
- Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded platforms (e.g., RISC-V, ARM)
- Knowledge of compliance standards such as FIPS-140-3, NIST, PSA or Common Criteria
- Knowledge of cryptographic algorithms and protocols (e.g., AES, RSA, ECC) and their implementation
- Exposure to modern cryptography: Post-Quantum cryptography, side-channel and implementation attacks, countermeasures and security testing processes
- Familiarity with hardware security features (e.g., TPM, HSM) and secure boot processes
- Familiarity with TrustZone or similar
What the job involves
- We are looking for a skilled Senior Firmware Engineer to join our dynamic team
- Work within the engineering team to design and implement Post-Quantum secure firmware for embedded systems, focusing on security best practices, threat mitigation, performance, reliability, and scalability
- Use a hardware-software co-design process to ensure secure integration of firmware with system components
- Develop and maintain security protocols, encryption algorithms, and secure boot mechanisms
- Implement and test security features to ensure absence of vulnerabilities and recommend improvements
- Create and maintain documentation related to firmware including the requirements, design specifications, and testing results
- Follow and improve the software development life cycle, from inception and design, through to development and deployment
- Integrate firmware development into CI/CD frameworks
- Debug and troubleshoot firmware and hardware issues, working closely with hardware engineers
- Participate in reviews, ensuring compliance with security standards and best practices
- Monitor and respond to emerging security threats and vulnerabilities in the firmware
- Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, technologies, and compliance requirements relevant to embedded systems
