Who you are
- 10+ years of product management experience, including ownership of complex B2B SaaS or platform products from strategy through launch and iteration
- 5+ years leading product teams or leading multiple product managers through multi quarter roadmaps
- Demonstrated ability to build configurable products for enterprise customers, with clear boundaries for customization vs core roadmap
- Strong product judgment and systems thinking, turning partner requirements into scalable primitives and modules
- Comfort operating across technical and commercial stakeholders, including enterprise customers and executive leadership
- Strong written and verbal communication, including product strategy docs, PRDs, launch readiness criteria, and executive updates
- Data driven approach to measuring outcomes and driving continuous improvements

What the job involves
- We are looking for a Product Director to own the strategy, roadmap, and execution for this product line as a true business and platform
- The core challenge is packaging Ethos capabilities into configurable, independently deployable products that carriers can launch, operate, and continuously improve for their distribution channels
- You will lead discovery with carriers, define scalable platform primitives and modules, and drive an operating model that balances reusable roadmap investments with carrier specific configuration
- You will partner deeply with Engineering, Design, Underwriting, Implementation, Security, Compliance, and GTM to deliver outcomes: faster carrier launches, higher conversion and placement, and lower cost to serve
- Set vision and strategy for carrier distributed products, including packaging, modularity, configuration, and long term platform bets
- Define the roadmap across distribution experiences, underwriting and requirements, servicing and case management, data and reporting, and admin tooling
- Drive prioritization across reusable roadmap investments and carrier driven needs
- Create a multi tenant and configurable product foundation: entitlements, feature flags, templates, configuration schemas, and safe customization patterns
- Establish release, migration, and backward compatibility practices so carriers can adopt improvements without disruption
- Define the operational model: support readiness, incident management interfaces, runbooks, and carrier facing SLAs
- Lead discovery across carrier distribution leaders, operations, compliance, and technology teams to understand channel realities: independent agents, call centers, D2C, worksite, and embedded flows
- Translate needs into product capabilities such as quoting and eligibility flows, pre fill, underwriting journeys, application UX, drop off recovery, agent tooling, and conversion optimization
- Build feedback loops to continuously improve outcomes after launch
- Create a repeatable carrier onboarding playbook: implementation phases, launch criteria, cutover plans, training, and documentation
- Define carrier facing environments and tooling: sandboxes, test data, certification, monitoring access, and audit reporting
- Partner with Implementation and Customer Success to reduce time to value and cost to serve
- Manage and develop product managers and product leaders as the team scales
- Set product operating rhythms: roadmap reviews, launch readiness, discovery standards, and decision forums
- Communicate clearly to executives: tradeoffs, investment needs, timelines, and business impact

Ethos uses predictive technology to rapidly quote life insurance rates and verify an applicant’s medical information. This expedited process allows most users to secure life cover on the same day they apply, a process which normally takes a number of weeks. The company works with some of the biggest providers in the industry, including Legal & General America, AAA Life and Ameritas Life Insurance Corp.
Ethos has been one of the more heavily publicized of the recent wave of insurtech companies, with investors such as Google as well as celebrities Will Smith and Jay Z, taking its valuation to over $2B and putting it in a great spot for future growth.
