Desirable

- In-house experience advising high growth companies; and
- A working knowledge of data protection laws such as CCPA, GDPR, and HIPAA
What the job involves
- Stripe is looking for an exceptional transactional lawyer to join our commercial legal team supporting our fast growing business in North America
- This role will support the AMER Sales team, leading negotiations and advising on a wide range of commercial and legal issues
- Work closely with Product Legal to bring new products and features to market
- Be an integral part of the build out of Stripe’s commercial legal infrastructure so that we can scale and operate efficiently at pace with Stripe’s exponential growth - this work includes drafting and maintaining Stripe’s agreements and playbooks, leading and contributing projects to improve internal processes and operational efficiencies
- Work with teams across Stripe, including sales, operations, product, tax, and risk groups
- Develop and deliver training and other resources to help the Sales team sell our products; and
- Be a point of escalation for outside counsel
- While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office
Our take
Stripe, nowadays a FinTech giant, spent the first few years since its founding building up its payments business, which primarily consisted of providing an API to eCommerce businesses so that they could easily integrate a payments option in their apps or websites, where before there was none.
More recently, Stripe has started to accelerate its growth with a significantly larger range of financial services including cash advances and credit cards. They also plan to build incorporation services, fraud protection, and more, diversifying its revenue away from payments and differentiating itself from its competitors.
To further expand its position, the company is looking to triple its presence in Ireland, and extend its services to countries with vast customer potential, including Brazil and India. Its latest venture, coming atop significant new funds, is to partner with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT - a win-win collaboration that will monetize OpenAI’s flagship products and at the same time enhance Stripe with GPT-4, as it moves forwards with intentions to "build the payments foundation for tomorrow's AI economy."
