Role
Who you are
- 2+ years of finance experience, including experience in financial planning, business analysis, investment banking or related, with proven understanding of financial modeling and analysis tools
- An ideal candidate has played a meaningful role in a budgeting and forecasting process and enjoys a continuous planning environment
- Experience with forecasting software including Planful, Anaplan, NetSuite, and Adaptive
- Firm grasp of GAAP; familiarity with e-Commerce and technology is a plus
- Experience with Looker or Workday Financial Management is also a strength
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Docs (Excel/Sheets and Powerpoint/Slides) is required
- Intellectual curiosity and high energy level with a hands-on approach combined with the ability to provide leadership and structure in a fast-paced dynamic environment
What the job involves
- We are looking for an experienced Strategic Finance professional to join the Corporate Strategic Finance team at Etsy
- As the Strategic Finance Analyst, you will be responsible for developing robust modeling and improving tools and systems for financial planning processes

- This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Strategic Finance
- The team is responsible for consolidating financial forecasts across various subsidiaries, analyzing Etsy’s P&L, and driving company-wide financial planning processes, including our Strategic Financial Planning and Monthly Forecast processes
- Play a key role in supporting our financial and operational planning processes, and evolving the underlying integrated financial forecast models, systems, and tools
- Work with leads across the Finance Organization to build budgets and forecasts
- Develop, optimize, and standardize Strategic Finance processes, including coordinating automation opportunities and sharing best practices
- Coordinate and collaborate closely with the partner-team Strategic Finance leads, other finance functions (Accounting, Tax, Investor Relations, Corporate Development), and additional vital operational teams (HR and Strategy & Operations) to develop models and deliver insights
- Develop meaningful analytics and reporting for our Executive leaders

Our take
Created as an alternative to more corporate eCommerce sites, Etsy is a peer-to-peer (P2P) website where users buy and sell handmade crafts, vintage items, art and photography. The online marketplace works similarly to Amazon and eBay, only with an emphasis on unique items rather than mass-produced merchandise.
Since its IPO in 2015, it has managed to hold its own in an increasingly competitive eCommerce industry, including from Amazon's handmade section that launched in 2015. Further, by providing sellers with ownership over pricing and branding, the site is attractive for those wanting to set up a business on an established platform.
However, the seller-side of Etsy is not without problems. A hike in transaction fees and the introduction of mandatory marketing fees for artists with high turnovers created significant discontent amongst sellers. Despite this, Etsy continues to connect artists and consumers, attracting shoppers with its message of extraordinary, handmade and affordable products.
