Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or other relevant certifications preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in tax accounting
- Experience with indirect taxes such as sales tax, VAT, and GST
- Strong understanding of tax accounting principles and familiarity with tax compliance across various jurisdictions
- Experience with financial software systems (Netsuite) and advanced proficiency in Excel
- Familiarity with sales tax reporting software (Anrok, Avalara, etc)
What the job involves
- As the Tax Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing tax compliance in various jurisdictions and have a proactive approach to managing tax-related issues
- You will work closely with various internal teams to ensure the company's tax obligations are met efficiently and accurately
- This role will report into the Director of Accounting
- Lead the reconciliation of all tax-related accounts, including global income tax, sales tax, VAT, and other indirect taxes
- Manage other indirect taxes, including VAT, GST, and excise taxes, ensuring timely and accurate filings in all applicable jurisdictions
- Oversee the preparation and filing of sales tax returns for multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with local, state, and international tax laws
- Assist in the management of tax audits, ensuring proper documentation and responses to tax authorities when required
- Support the preparation of tax-related financial reports, provisions and disclosures
- Collaborate with external tax providers to ensure timely and accurate filing of compliance matters in the US and foreign subsidiaries
- Provide tax advice to support business decisions and operations, ensuring compliance with tax regulations
- Support the preparation of transfer pricing documentation where applicable
- Provide analysis of tax data to identify potential risks, exposures, and opportunities for tax optimization
- Continuously assess and improve tax accounting processes and workflows to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Implement best practices for tax compliance and ensure the team follows established processes to minimize errors or delays
- Perform any additional duties related to tax accounting as needed
