Role
Who you are
- Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills, with a formidable attention to detail, possessing strong interpersonal communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Accounting or related field; MBA or CPA a plus
- 3+ years of experience in a finance/strategy role at a tech company and/or progressive finance experience at a top management consulting firm, investment bank, private equity/VC fund
- High aptitude and enthusiasm for complex problem solving, utilizing financial modeling, including advanced Excel skills
- Comfortable in unstructured or previously undefined situations, using data to draw conclusions and build models from scratch to drive action in unexplored/new strategic areas
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP to act as liaison with the Accounting team
- Financial planning software experience is a plus (e.g. Anaplan, Adaptive Planning)

What the job involves

- This is a unique opportunity to take on a broad scope of high impact work across FP&A and strategic finance domains
- As a Senior Financial Analyst on the Finance team you will support the financial management of the business, including forecasting, budgeting, strategic planning, financial modeling, and reporting
- You will work closely with senior business leaders in a fast-paced environment to drive key decision-making across operations, strategic initiatives, and resource planning
- You will be a critical member of a lean Finance team, driving impactful results for a growth-stage company with a killer product backed by top investors
- Own the budgeting and forecasting process, including the preparation of management discussion and analysis at the close of each month
- Refine internal financial reporting packages, highlighting growth drivers and performance relative to plan
- Partner with the Business Operations team to build and maintain driver based revenue models and track KPIs
- Drive analysis and modeling for growth and strategic initiatives
- Develop insightful findings, provide recommendations, and help facilitate decision making process for our leadership team and cross-functional teams
- Drive the preparation of ad hoc financial analysis for Board presentations, weekly / monthly business reviews, etc
- Partner with accounting on monthly close, annual audit, implementation of new systems and processes to evolve the company from a start-up to a public ready organization
- Build and maintain detailed financial projections in support of our annual operating plan, long-range strategic plan, and periodic forecasts
- Identify ways to improve forecasting, constantly refining approach over time
- Support any ad-hoc and other financial analyses as necessary

Instawork hosts an online marketplace that connects gig workers with local businesses across a variety of sectors including healthcare, hospitality, and warehouse work. Workers are paid hourly upon completion of a gig, at which point both the employer and worker themselves can provide feedback on the experience.
Whilst the startup faces competition within this gig-work industry, Instawork holds a smart focus on providing reliable and short-notice workers for businesses that need them. Gigs can be arranged within just a few hours of notice, and any employer or employee who cancels a job will be temporarily suspended in order to improve job success rates. Instawork's 2023 Series D funding is accelerating its AI capabilities and expanding its presence within staff distribution centres for some of the American continent's largest retailers and sports stadiums.
