Role
Who you are
- Our ideal candidate has a strong design portfolio, has relevant experience, or is working toward a bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field, and has deep knowledge of the Adobe suite
- You have relevant experience, or you’re currently enrolled as a student studying graphic design, marketing, advertising, or other related fields
- You can provide a design portfolio showcasing a range of skills/competencies (we want to see what you’re passionate about designing!)
- You have deep knowledge of the Adobe suite (specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere)
- Your peers would describe you as someone with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- You’re comfortable with autonomous work and feel motivated by freedom to explore your creativity
- Located in the United States (work will be 100% remote)
Desirable
- Ready to wear multiple hats, get your hands dirty, and dive into the details when necessary
- Thrive in a growing startup environment and enjoy working on complex and undefined projects
- Knowledge of and love for all things disc golf related
- A background in designing for a marketing team, whether in school projects or internships
- Interest/experience in illustration
- Knowledge/experience using Figma for design
- Experience working with or interning with startups
- Experience or interest in video editing
What the job involves
- We are looking for a designer & marketer with a passion for disc golf and technology to join our team
- You’ll work directly with our design and marketing teams to produce brand collateral for email campaigns, social media, data-driven reporting on the growth of disc golf, and other initiatives
- You’ll bring your creativity to the table while working within the framework of UDisc’s existing brand voice and style guidelines, becoming an integral part of the marketing team who will help determine the look and feel of current and future projects
- Disc golf is fun! You’ll help us remind players about the joy in the game and how they can use UDisc to enhance their experience both on and off the course
- Collaboration is key. While you’ll be working in a remote environment, you’ll also be supported with frequent brainstorming sessions, shared design platforms, and team feedback to guide you in creating the best finished product
- You can see the big picture, knowing that disc golf is as much about the recreational player as it is the hardcore and that you’ll be speaking to a variety of audiences with your work
- The internship will last approximately 12-weeks
Our take
UDisc has been around since way before the pandemic surge of Disc Golf enthusiasts but has definitely benefitted from increased enthusiasm for the game. UDisc is an app that helps disc golf players find new courses, improve their skills and learn more about the sport.
Combining golf and frisbee, UDisc is most popular in the US but is yet to take the mantle of traditional golf. UDisc’s success as an app lies in the fact that it is one of the only ones, and probably the most experienced on the market.
Any chance of UDisc’s scaling up relies on the sport increasing its popularity. UDisc is certainly spreading awareness though, dedicating an entire section of its app to blogs and news about the sport.
