- 10+ years of experience in project management or business operations, specifically within a top-tier advertising agency or a high-growth in-house marketing organization
- Proven People Leader: Experience managing teams of project managers and coordinating large-scale, complex programs of work

What the job involves
- Instructure’s Marketing organization is the engine that drives our global brand and growth. We are looking for a Director of Project Management Office (PMO) to serve as the operational command center for our global marketing team
- This leader will oversee the project management function for our in-house marketing agency while representing Marketing within the company’s broader cross-functional PMO. This role is ideal for a high-impact operational leader who understands how to balance the creative nuances of an agency environment with the rigorous structure of a global SaaS organization
- Reporting to the VP of Brand with a dotted-line relationship to the Chief Marketing Officer, you will bring structure, clarity, and accountability to how work moves through the department, ensuring our most critical initiatives deliver measurable business impact
- Lead the Marketing PMO: Manage and mentor a team of project managers; establish global standards, workflows, and governance (including RACI frameworks) that bring "order to the chaos" of a high-volume marketing organization
- Build Operational Infrastructure: Implement and optimize the tech stack (Asana, AI-enabled workflows, and productivity platforms) to streamline collaboration and identify execution bottlenecks before they happen
- Scale the Model Globally: Partner with international marketing leads to deploy the PMO model across global regions, ensuring a "Glocal" balance of consistency and regional flexibility
- Drive Cross-Functional Alignment: Serve as the primary marketing representative within Instructure’s enterprise PMO. You will bridge the gap between marketing, product, and sales to ensure our OKRs are tracked and achieved
- Partner with Marketing Leadership: Work as a strategic peer to Business Unit leads, Product Marketing, and Digital teams to prioritize resources, coordinate major launches, and keep the CMO informed of operational health and risks
- Impact: Build and own the "operating system" for a global marketing team during a pivotal phase of growth
- Visibility: Serve as a key bridge between the marketing agency and the executive PMO, with direct exposure to the CMO and VP of Brand
- Purpose: Play a critical role in supporting educators and institutions worldwide by ensuring our message reaches them efficiently and effectively

The platform simplifies teaching, elevates learning, and eliminates the headaches of supporting and growing traditional learning technologies.
The Canvas platform has grown to become a key part of a large number of educational institutions, from pre-school to higher education. Meanwhile, the company has gone international and hit the $1 billion market cap, made a number of acquisitions and invested in R&D. In fact, much of Instructure's workforce is dedicated to R&D, which shows their focus on innovating.
Instructure was itself acquired in 2024 by KKR, which supports a broad-based equity ownership program for Instructure employees. With KKR's record of acquired companies, this is a promising development. And, as the company centres a future-oriented vision and brand strategy, it will be interesting to see what it does next.
