Role
Who you are
- The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of the Python web development ecosystem and an understanding of modern frontend development including Javascript / TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3
- We are open to working with Mid-level or Senior candidates for this position
- The successful candidate will also enjoy working collaboratively and autonomously, and will consistently seek out ways to overcome challenges and obstacles
- Command of Python and its web development frameworks, for example: Flask, Bottle, Django
- Experience working with relational databases (preferably MySQL) and ORM frameworks (SQLAlchemy and Alembic)
- An understanding of modern frontend development, including: HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript
- A strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals: version control (git), OOP, type systems, unit and integration testing
- You have the ability to learn effectively and autonomously; find, evaluate and use potential tools and solutions; contribute to the fast-paced business environment; and share knowledge and best practices with your team
- Experience with TypeScript, React and / or Next.js
- Experiencing building frontend design systems
- Experience with containerisation (preferably Docker)
- Any public cloud experience, preferably AWS
- A solid understanding of modern web system architecture
- Innovative and entrepreneurial nature
- You’re resourceful and you consistently seek out ways to overcome challenges and obstacles
What the job involves
- As a Software Engineer you’ll be part of our agile tech team, supporting each other to build amazing systems as we embark on our next stage of growth
- You’ll work closely with our product, design and business team to build solutions that bring about life-changing outcomes for our customers
- Work collaboratively with the other members of the tech team to build high-impact solutions
- Champion best practices to deliver well-tested, robust software that always delivers
- Contribute to the ongoing development of our systems’ architecture
- Work closely with product, design and business owners to solve problems, test hypotheses, and develop new features for our customers
- Work across our whole tech stack, including backend, frontend, and infrastructure

Back in 2018, Skin + Me's founders identified a huge problem in the world of skincare: people don’t just struggle with their skin – they struggle with how they’re supposed to deal with it. With no truly effective solutions available, the company set out to build a pioneering online dermatology service that provides personalised skincare.
Skin + Me takes customers through a simple online medical consultation and work with dermatologists to prescribe a treatment, personalised to the individual. Part of the company's unique selling point is that its made-to-order formulation arrives through a subscription box each month and comes in a ‘Daily Doser’ – a specially designed bottle that dispenses the exact amount of the product needed for daily application.
Skin + Me is supported by a team of dermatologists, pharmacists and direct-to-consumer experts, which allows it to deliver across the business - from skin science to building the technology platform behind it. The company's growth plans include continual development of its services while ensuring it sticks to its ethos: providing desired, effective, and personalised skincare.
