Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related technical discipline)
- MBA from a top-tier program
- 6–10+ years of experience in consulting, investment banking, product management, or strategy/ops roles at a high-growth tech company
- Experience working closely with executives and/or boards, ideally in SaaS, cloud, or AI/ML-focused companies
- Proven track record of driving strategic projects end-to-end
- Strong technical fluency
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and structured thinking
- Executive presence with excellent communication and storytelling skills
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity, prioritize ruthlessly, and get things done
What the job involves
- As Chief of Staff, you will be a trusted strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team
- You’ll combine your technical background in Computer Science with the strategic and business acumen from your MBA to drive operational excellence, lead cross-functional initiatives, and ensure we scale effectively during this critical growth stage
- This is a highly visible role where you’ll influence both technical strategy and business execution, helping align product, infrastructure, and go-to-market efforts
- Strategic Partner to the CEO
- Drive company-level strategic planning, OKRs, and execution frameworks
- Provide data-driven insights to guide executive decision-making
- Act as a thought partner on technical and business trade-offs in a fast-moving AI platform company
- Operational Leadership
- Build and optimize the operating cadence of the company (exec staff meetings, board meetings, all-hands, investor reporting)
- Lead special projects that span technical, product, and go-to-market functions
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement scalable processes as we grow
- Technical Insight & Translation
- Leverage your CS background to evaluate technical initiatives and connect them to business outcomes
- Translate complex technical concepts into business terms for investors, partners, and customers
- Cross-Functional Alignment
- Ensure communication and alignment across engineering, product, GTM, and operations
- Manage strategic partnerships and support fundraising, investor relations, and customer-facing engagements
Our take
Kumo offers an AI-powered platform to help businesses tackle predictive problems, with a specific focus on graph neural networks. Founded by several AI executives from companies including Pinterest, Airbnb and LinkedIn, the company certainly has strong foundations to build on.
Kumo can be used for lots of different use cases, including new customer acquisition, customer retention, personalization, abuse detection and financial crime detection. The company has attracted considerable interest from enterprises, largely because these companies spend millions of dollars storing data, and yet are unable to effectively leverage most of it due to the time, effort, and skill required.
Having brought in series B funding in 2022, the company is moving to bring its AI technology to more companies, whilst investing in R&D efforts to expand its platform and services. Lately, developments have included the announcement that Kumo can now run deep learning directly in the Data Cloud with Snowpark Container Services (eliminating data exfiltration and security concerns), as well as the ability to deploy Kumo on Databricks' Lakehouse Apps without ever leaving the ecosystem.
