Who you are
- The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical and technical skills, business intuition, and a collaborative mindset to guide decision-making and unlock growth opportunities
- 4+ years of experience in Analytics, Data Science, or a related field
- Fluency in SQL and proficiency in a scripting language like Python or R
- Experience with distributed data systems (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake, Presto, Hive, Spark)
- Strong foundation in statistical methods, experimentation, and/or forecasting
- A track record of working cross-functionally and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical partners
- Experience supporting one or more of the following: Product, Marketing, Finance, or internal Platform/Tooling teams

What the job involves
- We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join our growing data team. At Figma, Data Scientists are deeply embedded within cross-functional teams across the company—from Product to Finance, Marketing, and Platform
- You’ll work on problems ranging from understanding user behavior to optimizing revenue strategies, improving internal tooling, and influencing product direction through experimentation and data modeling
- Collaborate across teams to define and measure key metrics, design experiments, and uncover insights that inform strategic decisions
- Build models and analytical frameworks to support product, marketing, platform, or finance initiatives
- Develop tools, datasets, and systems that enable others to work with data more efficiently and rigorously
- Own complex data projects end-to-end—from problem scoping to solution delivery
- Champion data quality, accessibility, and the democratization of data across the organization
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, Research, Sales, Marketing, or Finance to drive impact
- Our tech stack includes Python, SQL, DBT for data analytics and pipelining, pipelining and machine learning and visualization through Superset, Dagster, Hex. We leverage cloud platforms such as AWS for scalable data storage and computational needs
Our take
Despite there being a broad choice of investment models, traders have not traditionally been able to invest in the outcomes of future events. Kalshi, as the first federally regulated exchange where users can invest, trade and essentially "bet" on future outcomes, sets out to change this.
The company has launched a unique asset class called "event contracts", where investors can buy simple yes or no contracts based on whether an event will happen or not. Since gaining federal regulation, Kalshi has begun adding expertise in key areas, hiring Google’s Phil Bogle as Director of Engineering and former Nadex CEO Timothy McDermott to the Board of Directors.
The key to the company's future will be maintaining trust with users through transparency, particularly on how more complex or ongoing ‘wagers’ are settled. The team has been backed with funding from Sequoia Capital, who have most likely gauged how valuable the opinion data collected on the site could be to market and political researchers - although the CFTC's reluctance to approve betting on US elections has presented a block in the road for Kalshi's plans to add "the outcome of congressional elections" to its asset options.
