Role
Who you are
- 3+ years of experience in building data pipelines to serve reporting needs
- Experience owning all or part of a team roadmap
- Ability to prioritize requests from multiple stakeholders in disparate domains
- Ability to effectively communicate complex projects to non-technical stakeholders
- BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent years of experience in a relevant field
- 3+ year experience in SQL or similar languages
- 3+ years development experience in at least one object-oriented or scripting language (Python, Java, Scala, etc)
Desirable
- Hands on experience with Google BigQuery/Trino
- Experience in version control systems such as Git
- Data architecture and warehousing experience
- Experience leading a small team of data or software engineers
- Experience with Airflow
- Experience in ETL / Data application development
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Data Engineer to join the Core Data Engineering Team at Snap Inc!
- Work closely with stakeholders in engineering, finance, sales, marketing, strategy, and governance to make high quality datasets available to consumers in a timely manner
- Develop data pipelines adhering with privacy and governance principles
- Become familiar with our data consumption portals and their capabilities
- Build expertise and ownership of data quality for supported domains
- Build tooling and implement systems to overcome limitations of the data consumption portals when appropriate
- Drive adoption of the data sets you’ve produced
Our take
Snap Inc. is the social-media company behind Snapchat, a mobile app launched in 2011 that prioritises visual and emotive communication over traditional texting. Born from a desire to share real-time moments with authenticity, the app now boasts a massive global reach with daily active users surpassing 460M and monthly active users well beyond 900M.

Snap has yet to post a full-year profit since going public in 2017, but the company is clearly making progress. In Q1 2025 the net loss was narrowed to roughly $140M, down from $305M the year before, and revenue rose 14% to $1.36B. Advertising revenue remains periodic and macro-factors still pose headwinds, yet Snaps enduring popularity and its expanding product mix suggest that further success appears likely.
