Who you are
- You’re an undergraduate or graduate student in Business, Statistics, Engineering, Math, or a related field
- You’re able to work onsite in Chicago, IL at least 3 days per week

What the job involves
- We’re looking for an Operations Technology Product Management Intern to join the Platform Product and Design Team for the summer.
- In this role, you’ll support the team responsible for building and improving the systems that power Avant’s customer service and operations teams. This includes tools used by our contact center, internal workflows that support complaints and disputes, and emerging AI-enabled experiences that help teams serve customers more effectively
- This is a hands-on role where you’ll help investigate customer pain points, analyze operational feedback, and support technology initiatives that improve the customer experience while helping our teams operate more efficiently at scale
- Support operations technology initiatives focused on improving the customer experience and operational efficiency
- Assist with managing projects that enhance internal tools, workflows, or customer-facing processes
- Build dashboards that consolidate customer and operational feedback, making insights easier for teams to consume and act on
- Analyze customer and operations feedback to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement
- Investigate large customer pain points and help develop recommendations that inform the product roadmap
- Partner with Operations, Design, Business, Data, and Engineering teams to translate insights into actionable improvements
Our take
Many Americans with below average credit scores are caught in a bind: they're unable to improve their score, and simultaneously cannot access traditional loans. Avant's alternative is to offer credit options that are powered by machine learning and based upon a large database that helps to manage risk.
For its users, the company offers a quick credit decision and speedy access to any allotted funds. It has issued over $8 billion in loans to date, and has also expanded its business through the acquisitions of ReadyForZero in 2015 and Zero Financial in 2021.
This expansion has enabled Avant to reach towards its goal of offering a whole suite of products in a single platform, such as loans, credit cards, and deposits. Although there are many FinTechs looking at ways to remove the barriers that people with low credit scores face when trying to take out loans, this expansion to banking products should help Avant to stand out.
