Senior Compliance & Risk Officer, Cuvva

• Have at least 5 years relevant compliance experience. Other experience in a regulated or professional services firm, financial services, a regulator, or an ombudsman service may be considered
• Have one or more formal qualifications or certificates in general compliance or specific areas
• Have a strong understanding of the FCA, FOS, the FCA Handbook and the Consumer Duty and other legislation relevant to financial services including FSMA, the DPA and AML - and how to critically interpret and apply it
• Are familiar with the tech and insurance industries and motor insurance in particular
• Have experience mentoring or managing others
• Have the experience and ability to write great reports - and the knack of persuading people to follow your recommendations
• Are confident in giving advice, with the ability to communicate compliance concepts in accessible language
• Always have customer outcomes at front-of-mind, and are pragmatic, commercial and quick-thinking
• Are extremely well organised, able to juggle competing deadlines, with great attention to detail
• Are willing to throw yourself into a wide range of business areas, and have the confidence to take the initiative, influence others and make decisions
• InsurTech / FinTech experience
• Experience and/or qualifications in enterprise risk management and governance

Desirable

• We’re looking for a seasoned Senior Compliance & Risk Officer help take the business to the next level
• You’ll be an integral part of our small Legal, Risk & Compliance team, as part of our wider Operations department. You’ll work closely with and report into the Head of Legal, Risk & Compliance
• Your mission is to take the lead on making sure that the business continues to meet the letter and the spirit of our regulatory commitments - as well as Cuvva’s own high standards!
• This role is designed for a proactive person who is equally comfortable with taking the lead on planning our compliance approach and with mucking in on reporting and monitoring
• You’ll take charge of the day-to-day running of our established Compliance framework
• To do that, your key focus will be to plan and carry out effective compliance monitoring across the business
• Monitoring will include regularly reviewing and reporting on a range of areas and carrying out follow-up actions
• You’ll work with our Compliance Analyst and may have the opportunity to manage others in future
• You’ll also be the first port of call for ad hoc questions that come in from the business
• You’ll need to be familiar with a wide range of FCA and other regulations in order to give practical advice
• The role will be mostly broad-ranging compliance advisory and monitoring work
• You’ll be expected to take the lead on this and suggest improvements across our business, but you’ll also need to use your risk-based and proactive mindset in supporting on Risk-related matters
• On a day-to-day basis you’ll be involved in all sorts of projects - this is a broad ranging role
• Being the go-to person for day-to-day compliance and conduct queries
• Planning out and leading on our Compliance Monitoring Plan, and suggesting improvements
• Creating and updating internal policies and processes from scratch
• Monitoring our business, writing reports and ensuring your recommendations are actioned
• Ensuring that key regulations, such as the Consumer Duty, are implemented across Cuvva
• Making AML and anti-fraud recommendations, assessing risk levels and building processes
• Reviewing financial promotions, introducer arrangements, and other partnership deals
• FCA reporting, for example via RegData and Connect
• Suggesting improvements to our products and customer operations
• Working on customer complaints, data protection, privacy and ESG issues
• Horizon scanning for changes in regulation and governance
• Identifying, measuring, managing and reporting on business risks
• Helping the business to mitigate key risks
